The Parliament of the Republic of South Africa is South Africa's legislature; under the present Constitution of South Africa, the bicameral Parliament comprises a National Assembly and a National Council of Provinces. The current twenty-seventh Parliament was first convened on 22 May 2019.
The National Assembly is the directly elected house of the Parliament of South Africa, located in Cape Town, Western Cape. It consists of four hundred members who are elected every five years using a party-list proportional representation system where half of the members are elected proportionally from nine provincial lists and the remaining half from national lists so as to restore proportionality.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is a South African Marxist–Leninist and black nationalist political party. It was founded by expelled former African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) President Julius Malema, and his allies, in 2013. Malema is President of the EFF, heading the Central Command Team which serves as the central structure of the party. It is currently the third-largest party in both houses of the South African Parliament. The party is also the official opposition in three of South Africa's nine provincial legislatures.
Makoti Sibongile Khawula is a South African politician and previous anti-apartheid activist from KwaZulu-Natal serving as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa for the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party since 2014. Khawula is known for her insistence on speaking Zulu in Parliament.
Naledi Nokukhanya Chirwa-Mpungose is a South African feminist, legislator and former student activist serving as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa. A member of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), she was sworn in as an MP on 22 May 2019. She is one of the youngest MPs of the 6th Parliament. Chirwa was involved in the #FeesMustFall student protests that occurred at the University of Pretoria between 2015 and 2016.
Ntombovuyo Veronica Mente is a South African politician serving as the Chairperson of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) since her election in December 2019. She is also a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa, having taken office in May 2014.
Andrew Arnolds is a South African politician of the Economic Freedom Fighters who represented the Western Cape in the National Council of Provinces from 2019 until 2023.
Yoliswa Nomampondomise Yako is a South African politician from the Eastern Cape who serves as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa. She took office as an MP on 3 September 2018. Yako was previously a PR councillor of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality and the chairperson of the municipality's Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC). Yako is a member of the Economic Freedom Fighters.
Thembinkosi Tevin Apleni was a South African politician who served as a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces from May 2019 until his death in May 2023. He was one of six permanent delegates from the Eastern Cape. Apleni was a member of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and served as the party's provincial treasurer from November 2022 until May 2023. He was previously the party's provincial secretary from 2015 until 2018 when he was elected deputy provincial chairperson.
Seneanye Betta Lehihi is a South African politician who has been representing the North West in the National Council of Provinces since May 2019. Lehihi is a member of the Economic Freedom Fighters.
Bertha Peace Mabe is a South African politician serving as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa since February 2017. She previously served in the National Assembly from May 2014 until August 2016. She served as a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces from Gauteng between May 2009 and April 2014. Mabe is a member of the African National Congress and the party's unsuccessful 2016 Mogale City mayoral candidate.
Piaba Madokwe is a South African politician who served as Member of the National Assembly for the Economic Freedom Fighters from October 2020 until August 2023. Madokwe had previously served as the secretary-general of the EFF Student Command.
Ngwanamakwetle Reneiloe Mashabela is a South African politician from the Economic Freedom Fighters party. She has been a Member of Parliament (MP) in the National Assembly of South Africa since May 2014. Mashabela is a member of the central command team of the EFF.
Bridget Staff Masango is a South African Democratic Alliance politician from Gauteng who has served as the Shadow Minister of Social Development since October 2015. She has also been a Member of the National Assembly since October 2015. From May 2014 to October 2015, Masango served as a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces.
Kenny Thabo Motsamai is a South African anti-apartheid activist, convicted murderer and politician. A member of the Economic Freedom Fighters party, he has been a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces from Gauteng since May 2019. Motsamai is a former military commander of the Azanian People's Liberation Army, the military wing of the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania during apartheid. He was imprisoned for nearly three decades for killing a white traffic officer during a bank robbery in 1989.
Tebogo Josephine Mokwele is a South African politician who served in the National Assembly of South Africa from May to August 2019 as a member of the Economic Freedom Fighters party. Prior to serving in the National Assembly, Mokwele had been a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces from the North West from 2014 to 2019.
Abednigo Vusumuzi Khoza is a South African politician who served as a member of the National Assembly of South Africa from February until October 2023. He previously served in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature from May 2014 to February 2023. Khoza was a member of the Economic Freedom Fighters party.
S'lindile Ann Luthuli is a South African politician from KwaZulu-Natal. A member of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), she has represented KwaZulu-Natal in the National Council of Provinces from 2019 until 2024.
