Brian Yang (born 25 November 2001) is a Canadian badminton player. [2] He was an integral part of the Team Alpha that won the mixed team relay gold at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics.
In 2016, he won three gold medals at the U–19 Pan Am Junior Championships, winning the boys' doubles, mixed doubles, and team events. [3] [4]
Yang won his first senior international title at 2017 Suriname International in the men's singles. [5] In July, he won the boys' singles and mixed doubles titles at the Pan Am Junior Championships, while the Canada team captured the silver medal. [6] [7]
Yang represented Canada in the 2018 Commonwealth Games and Thomas Cup. At the El Salvador International, he won two titles in the men's singles and mixed doubles. [8]
Yang clinched the men's singles title at the 2019 Canadian National Championships and became Canada's youngest national champion. [9] He competed at the Sudirman Cup. Yang was named to Canada's 2019 Pan American Games team, [10] ended up winning silver in the men's singles competition. [11] He was crowned as the men's singles champion at the 2021 Pan Am Championships. [12] He also won the gold medals in the boys' singles, doubles and mixed team at the Pan Am Junior Championships. [13]
In June 2021, Yang was named to Canada's Olympic team for the 2020 Summer Olympics. [14] He also competed at the first edition of the Junior Pan Am Games, clinching the gold medals in the boys' singles and mixed doubles. [15]
In 2022, he won a silver medal at the Pan Am Championships, losing to Kevin Cordón in the final. [16]
In his second appearance at the Pan American Games, Yang captured the gold medal in the men's singles after beating the defending champion Kevin Cordón in the final. [17]

Kevin Haroldo Cordón Buezo is a Guatemalan badminton player. He won two men's singles titles at the Pan American Games, four titles at the Pan Am Championships, and six titles at the Central American and Caribbean Games. He is a five-time Olympian for Guatemala participating at the 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020 and the 2024 Olympic Games.
Virgil Soeroredjo is a former Surinamese badminton player and now coach. He competed for Suriname at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He also competed for Suriname at 3 Pan Am Games: the 2003 Pan American Games, the 2007 Pan American Games & the 2011 Pan American Games. As a young badminton player of the club SCVU in Suriname Virgil Soeroredjo won numerous juniors titles and was soon selected to represent his country abroad winning several juniors medals at Caribbean, Central American and South American events. Much of his success was with his doubles partner Mitchel Wongsodikromo.
Phillip Hung Chew is an American badminton player. He won two gold medals in men's and mixed doubles at the 2015 Pan American Games. Chew also participated in the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. He won the 2021 Pan Am Badminton Championships doubles with his brother Ryan Chew. He trains at the Orange County Badminton Club, which is founded by his grandfather, Don Chew.
Mitchel Arthur Wongsodikromo is a Surinamese badminton player and coach. He competed for Suriname at three Pan Am Games: 2003 Pan American Games, 2007 Pan American Games & the 2011 Pan American Games. As a very young badminton player of the club T.N.F. in Suriname Mitchel Wongsodikromo was an exceptional talent and won numerous juniors titles and was soon selected to represent his country abroad winning several juniors medals at Caribbean, Central American and South American events. Much of his success was with his doubles partner Virgil Soeroredjo.
Rachel Honderich is a Canadian badminton player from Toronto, Ontario. She has been one of the top ranked women's individual and doubles player on the continent and a contender in major international competitions. She is a vice-national champion in women's singles and has won several international titles since 2010.
Osleni Guerrero Velazco is a Cuban badminton player. He is the first Cuban badminton player to win a medal in the Pan American Games. Guerrero also competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Ygor Coelho de Oliveira is a Brazilian badminton player. He won the Pan Am Junior Badminton Championships six times in the boys' singles and four times in the mixed doubles event with Lohaynny Vicente. Oliveira placed 27th in the world junior ranking and went on to compete at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China. He won his first senior international title at the 2014 Puerto Rico International in the men's singles event. He competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and became the first Brazil's male Olympic badminton player. He clinched three gold medals at the 2018 South American Games in the men's singles, doubles, and team event. Coelho won a gold medal in the men's singles at the 2019 Lima Pan American Games.
Sören Hans Brad Opti is a badminton player from Suriname. He is a two time Olympian, respresenting Suriname at the 2016 Rio Olympics and at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He was also selected to represent his country at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, but had to stay home due to a positive Covid-test. During the opening ceremony of the 2016 Olympics, Opti was the flagbearer for Suriname. Opti participated in the 2014 and 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games.
Yuta Watanabe is a Japanese badminton player. He is a member of the Nihon Unisys team, and national team A representative. Known for his quick and explosive movements with signature drop shots on court, Watanabe, together with Arisa Higashino, had won 2 consecutive bronze medals in the mixed doubles event at the 2020 and 2024 Summer Olympics, as well as being four-time BWF World Championships medalists.
Nyl Kiyoshi Yakura is a Canadian badminton player. He captured two gold medals at the Pan American Games, winning the men's doubles title in 2019 and 2023, and also a silver in the mixed doubles in 2019. Fabrício Ruan Rocha Farias is a Brazilian badminton player from Joca Claudino Esportes badminton club. He won the bronze medals at the 2019 Pan American Games in the men's doubles with his brother, Francielton Farias, and also in the mixed doubles with Jaqueline Lima. He later claimed the silver medal in the men's doubles at the 2023 Pan American Games with Davi Silva.
