The XXVI 2023 Pan Am Badminton Championships was a continental championships tournament of badminton in Pan America. This tournament was held as two events in different countries. From 16 to 19 February, the team event was held in Guadalajara, Mexico. From 26 to 29 April, the individual event was held in Kingston, Jamaica.

Tournament

The team event of 2023 Pan Am Badminton Championships officially Pan American Cup 2023, was a team continental championships tournament of badminton, to crown the best mixed team in Pan America, who would qualify to 2023 Sudirman Cup. This event was organized by the Badminton Pan Am and Federacion Mexicana de Badminton. [1] Nine teams entered the tournament.

The individual event of Pan Am Badminton Championships was an individual continental championships tournament of badminton, to crowns the best male and female players and pairs in Pan America. The ranking points of this tournament equivalent to BWF World Tour Super 300 event. This event was organized by the Badminton Pan Am and Jamaica Badminton Association. [2]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Badminton Pan America</span>

The Badminton Pan Am (BPA) organisation is the governing body for the sport of badminton in the Americas and is recognized as such by the Badminton World Federation - BWF. It was founded as a continental governing body on February 13, 1976 in the headquarters of the Mexican Olympic Committee in Mexico City. The Pan American Badminton Confederation was founded by Badminton Canada, the Jamaica Badminton Association, Federacion Mexicana de Badminton, Comision Nacional de Badminton Peru and the United States Badminton Association. BPAC was founded in Mexico City in 1976 and had nominated Victor Jaramillo of Mexico as President until an official election was scheduled to take place at the first Pan Am Championships the following year. The first Badminton Pan Am Championships was held in Moncton, New Brunswick-Canada, in April 1977.

The men's association football tournament at the 2011 Pan American Games was held in Guadalajara, Mexico at the Estadio Omnilife from 19 to 28 October 2011. Associations affiliated with FIFA were invited to send their men's U-22 national teams, with 3 no-age-limit players per team allowed. Ecuador were the defending champions from the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, defeating Jamaica 2–1, but they were eliminated during the group stage.

Virgil Soeroredjo is a former Surinamese badminton player and now coach. He competed for Suriname at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He also competed for Suriname at 3 Pan Am Games: the 2003 Pan American Games, the 2007 Pan American Games & the 2011 Pan American Games. As a young badminton player of the club SCVU in Suriname Virgil Soeroredjo won numerous juniors titles and was soon selected to represent his country abroad winning several juniors medals at Caribbean, Central American and South American events. Much of his success was with his doubles partner Mitchel Wongsodikromo.

Brazil women's national goalball team is the women's national team of Brazil. Goalball is a team sport designed specifically for athletes with a vision impairment. The team takes part in international goalball competitions.

The Brazil national badminton team represents Brazil in international badminton team competitions. It is controlled by the Brazil Badminton Confederation, the governing body for badminton in Brazil. Brazil is one of South America's most active badminton nations. The team is a member of Badminton Pan America and the South American Badminton Confederation.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Ygor Coelho</span> Brazilian badminton player (born 1996)

Ygor Coelho de Oliveira is a Brazilian badminton player. He won the Pan Am Junior Badminton Championships six times in the boys' singles and four times in the mixed doubles event with Lohaynny Vicente. Oliveira placed 27th in the world junior ranking and went on to compete at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China. He won his first senior international title at the 2014 Puerto Rico International in the men's singles event. He competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and became the first Brazil's male Olympic badminton player. He clinched three gold medals at the 2018 South American Games in the men's singles, doubles, and team event. Coelho won a gold medal in the men's singles at the 2019 Lima Pan American Games.

Oscar Roël Brandon is a Surinamese badminton player, coach and Olympic team manager. He competed for Suriname at the 1996 Summer Olympics as a badminton player in the Men's singles event. And he was "chef de mission" for Suriname at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Dylan Darmohoetomo is a Surinamese badminton player and coach. He is a member of the Surinamese badminton club Perfect Flying Feathers (P.F.F.). He was the flagbearer for Suriname at the 2019 Pan Am Games

Badminton competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru were held between July 29 and August 2, 2019 at the Polideportivo 3, which also hosted the roller sports (artistic) and table tennis competitions.

The XXIII 2019 Pan Am Badminton Championships was a continental championships tournament of badminton in Pan America. This tournament was held as two events in different countries. From 14 to 17 February, the team event was held in Lima, Peru. From 25 to 28 April, the individual event was held in Aguascalientes, Mexico.

The XXIV 2020 Pan Am Badminton Championships is a continental championships tournament of badminton in Pan America. This tournament were held as two events in different countries. From 13 to 16 February, the team event was held in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. From 23 to 26 April, the individual event was planned to be held in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

The Peru national badminton team represents Peru in international badminton team competitions. It is controlled by the Peruvian Sports Federation of Badminton. Peru is one of the five founding members of Badminton Pan America and one of the three founding members of the South American Badminton Confederation. The national team was formed in 1965.

The XXIV 2022 Pan Am Badminton Championships was a continental championships tournament of badminton for the Americas. It was held in San Salvador, El Salvador from 26 to 29 April.

Fernanda Saponara Rivva is a Peruvian female badminton player who competes internationally.

Fabrício Ruan Rocha Farias is a Brazilian badminton player from Joca Claudino Esportes badminton club. He won the bronze medals at the 2019 Pan American Games in the men's doubles with his brother, Francielton Farias, and also in the mixed doubles with Jaqueline Lima. He later claimed the silver medal in the men's doubles at the 2023 Pan American Games with Davi Silva.

The 2024 Pan Am Male & Female Badminton Cup was a continental badminton team tournament to crown the best men's and women's team for the Americas. The tournament also served as the Pan American qualifiers for the 2024 Thomas & Uber Cup to be held in Chengdu, China. It was held in São Paulo, Brazil from 15 to 18 February 2024.

The XXVII 2024 Pan Am Badminton Championships was a continental championships tournament of badminton for the Americas. It was held in Guatemala City, Guatemala from 10 to 13 April.

The 1991 Pan Am Badminton Championships was the seventh edition of the Pan American Badminton Championships. The tournament was held from 17 to 23 June at the Convention Hall in Kingston, Jamaica. Ten countries competed in the championships. Eight out of the ten competing countries competed in the mixed team event. Peru and the Cayman Islands only sent players to compete in the individual events.

The 1993 Pan Am Badminton Championships was the eighth edition of the Pan American Badminton Championships. The tournament was held from 28 June to 4 July at the Guatemala National Badminton Hall inside Coliseo Deportivo in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Nine countries competed in the championships.

The 2001 Pan Am Badminton Championships was the tenth edition of the Pan American Badminton Championships. The tournament was originally scheduled to start on 24 September but was later rescheduled to 22 October. The tournament was held at Club de Regatas Lima in Lima, Peru. Eight countries competed in the championships.
