Ty Alexander Lindeman (born 15 August 1997) is a Canadian badminton player. [1] He won the gold medals in the mixed doubles at the 2023 Pan American Games; [2] also at the 2018 and 2022 Pan Am Championships. [3] [4]

Career

Lindeman trains at MODU Badminton Club, and in 2015, he represented Alberta competed at the XXV Canada Games. [5] [6]

Lindeman won two U23 national titles in 2016 for men's doubles (with Austin Bauer) and mixed doubles (with Takeisha Wang). [7]

In 2017, Lindeman won the silver medal at the Pan Am Championships in the men's doubles event with his partner, Austin Bauer. [8]

In 2018, Lindeman competed at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. [9] He then took the gold medal in the mixed doubles with Josephine Wu at the 2018 Pan Am Championships. [3]

In mid 2021, Lindeman reunited with Josephine Wu and managed to win the Guatemala International, became their first title in the international tournament since their last pairing in 2018. He also won the men's doubles title partnered with Kevin Lee. [10] In 2022, Lindeman and Wu managed to win the mixed doubles title at the Pan Am Championships. [4] In 2023, he claimed two silver medals at the Pan Am Championships in the mixed doubles with Wu and in the men's doubles with Lee. [11] In October, he made his debut at the Pan American Games, [12] and won the mixed doubles gold medal with Wu. [2] He also won the men's doubles title at the Guatemala, Peru, and, El Salvador International Challenge; and also the mixed doubles title in the Guatemala and Peru.

In 2024, Lindeman joined the Canada team competing in the Pan Am Male Cup, where the team emerge champions at that competition. [13] He won the mixed doubles title at the Polish Open partnered with Josephine Wu. [14] As the first seeded at the Pan Am Championships, [15] the duo had to settle for the bronze medal after being defeated by the American pair Presley Smith and Allison Lee.

He competed for Suriname at three Pan Am Games: 2003 Pan American Games, 2007 Pan American Games & the 2011 Pan American Games. Nathan Ngai Han Osborne is a Canadian male badminton player. In 2013, he won gold medals at the Pan Am Junior Badminton Championships in mixed doubles and team events. In 2016, he won a silver medal at the Pan Am Badminton Championships in men's doubles event partnered with Josephine Wu.

Josephine Yuenling Wu is a Canadian badminton player. Rachel Chan is a Canadian badminton player. She won the women's singles title at the 2020 Canadian National Championships and became Canada's youngest national champion. She has represented Canada in the Pan Am Junior Championships multiple times between 2016 until 2019, and the 2019 World Junior Championship making it to round of 32. Rachel won silver at the 2021 Pan Am Championships in women's singles, debuting in her first senior level international tournament, and later cliched the bronze medal at the 2023 Pan American Games.

Fabrício Ruan Rocha Farias is a Brazilian badminton player from Joca Claudino Esportes badminton club. He won the bronze medals at the 2019 Pan American Games in the men's doubles with his brother, Francielton Farias, and also in the mixed doubles with Jaqueline Lima. He later claimed the silver medal in the men's doubles at the 2023 Pan American Games with Davi Silva.

Vinson Chiu is an American badminton player. He won a silver medal with his partner Joshua Yuan in the men's doubles at the 2022 Pan Am Championships. Chiu also won a silver and a bronze at the 2016 Pan Am Junior Championships in the boys' doubles and mixed doubles. Chiu currently plays mixed doubles with Jennie Gai. They won their first title together at the Mexican International Challenge in 2021. The duo won the silver medal in the mixed doubles at the 2023 Pan American Games.

Adam Dong is a Chinese-born Canadian badminton player. He captured the men's doubles gold medals at the 2023 Pan American Games and at the 2023 Pan Am Championships.

The XXVI 2023 Pan Am Badminton Championships was a continental championships tournament of badminton in Pan America. This tournament was held as two events in different countries. From 16 to 19 February, the team event was held in Guadalajara, Mexico. From 26 to 29 April, the individual event was held in Kingston, Jamaica.

The mixed doubles badminton event at the 2023 Pan American Games was held from October 21 to 25 at the Olympic Training Center, located in Ñuñoa, a suburb of Santiago. The defending Pan American Games champion are Joshua Hurlburt-Yu and Josephine Wu of Canada. The pair have since split up and Wu will be competing with new partner Ty Alexander Lindeman.

Kevin Lee is a Canadian badminton player from Calgary. Playing doubles with Ty Lindeman, he reached a top ranking of 40 and represented Canada at the 2023 Pan American Games, where the team reached the quarterfinals, and at the 2023 Pan Am Badminton Championships, where they reached the final.
