Cavite's 7th congressional district is one of the eight congressional districts of the Philippines in the province of Cavite. It has been represented in the House of Representatives of the Philippines since 2010. [3] The district consists of Cavite's de facto capital city of Trece Martires and its adjacent municipalities of Amadeo, Indang, and Tanza. It is currently represented in the 19th Congress by Crispin Diego Remulla of the National Unity Party (NUP). [4]

Contents

The city of Tagaytay and the municipalities of Alfonso, General Emilio Aguinaldo, Magallanes, Maragondon, Mendez, Naic, and Ternate were once part of this district until they were reassigned to the eighth district when the city of General Trias gained separate representation as the sixth district, effective in 2019. [5]

Elpidio "Pidi" Frani Barzaga Jr. is a Filipino lawyer and politician. He has been the representative of Cavite's 4th district in the House of Representatives of the Philippines since 2019 and previously held the same position from 2010 to 2016. This district exclusively covers the city of Dasmariñas and was carved out from the 2nd district, which he represented from 2007 to 2010. In addition to his legislative roles, he served as the mayor of Dasmariñas from 1998 to 2007 and later from 2016 to 2019.

Jesus Crispin "Boying" Catibayan Remulla is a Filipino lawyer, politician, and broadcaster currently serving as Secretary of Justice since 2022. He previously served as the representative of Cavite's 7th district from 2019 to 2022, the position he previously held from 2010 to 2013, and was concurrently the House Senior Deputy Majority Leader. He also served as the provincial governor of Cavite from 2016 to 2019, and was the representative of the province's 3rd district from 2004 to 2010. He is also a radio host for "Executive Session" on DZRH. Remulla is one of the vocal opponents against ABS-CBN and is among the 70 congressmen who voted to reject the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN.

The legislative district of Dasmariñas was the representation of the city of Dasmariñas, Cavite in the House of Representatives of the Philippines. The district corresponds to the 4th Legislative District of Cavite, which was created on October 22, 2009 just right before the ratification of the Charter of the City of Dasmariñas on November 25, 2009. Prior to being entitled its own representation, the municipality of Dasmariñas was represented in Congress as part of the lone district of Cavite from 1907 to 1972, and as part of Region IV-A in the Interim Batasang Pambansa from 1978 to 1984. From 1984 to 1986, it was represented at the Batasang Pambansa as part of the at-large district of Cavite, and was part of the second district of Cavite in the restored House of Representatives from 1987 to 2010.
