[3] Goodfellas received the most nominations with seven, followed by Dances with Wolves with four. [3] The former won the most awards with four, including Best Film. [1] Actresses Kathy Bates and Joan Cusack earned two nominations each. [3] This year was also notable for the introduction of two new categories: Best Cinematography and Best Screenplay. [3]

Irwin Winkler is an American film producer and director. He is the producer or director of over 58 motion pictures, dating back to 1967's Double Trouble, starring Elvis Presley.
