Chubanluy-e Olya (Persian : چوبانلوي عليا‎, also Romanized as Chūbānlūy-e ‘Olyā; also known as Chobānlī, Chūpānlū, Chūpānlū-ye Bālā, and Chūpānlū-ye ‘Olyā)^[1] is a village in Lakestan Rural District, in the Central District of Salmas County, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 170, in 41 families.^[2]

Persian, also known by its endonym Farsi, is one of the Western Iranian languages within the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family. It is primarily spoken in Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and some other regions which historically were Persianate societies and considered part of Greater Iran. It is written right to left in the Persian alphabet, a modified variant of the Arabic script.

Lakestan Rural District is a rural district (dehestan) in the Central District of Salmas County, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 11,486, in 2,773 families. The rural district has 15 villages.
