The holotype was found in Zanzibar.
This species is also found in Burundi, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda [1] and South Africa. [2]
Its natural habitats are intermittent rivers, swamps, and freshwater marshes. [1]
