Three major interstate highways in the Piedmont region of central North Carolina were built to intersect at this city.

Kernersville is located at the center of the Piedmont Triad metropolitan area, between Greensboro to the east, High Point to the south, and Winston-Salem to the west. Piedmont Triad International Airport is an airport located in unincorporated Guilford County, North Carolina, west of Greensboro, serving the Piedmont Triad region of Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem as well as the entire Piedmont Triad region in North Carolina, United States. The airport, located just off Bryan Boulevard, sits on a 3,770 acre campus and has three runways. It is the third busiest airport in North Carolina, averaging 280 takeoffs and landings each day. PTI is owned and operated by the Piedmont Triad Airport Authority.

It is the fourth largest institution in the North Carolina Community College System and the largest in the Piedmont Triad. Wendover Avenue is a road in Guilford County, North Carolina, United States. Most of the road is hybrid in character: it is like an expressway in that it has a mix of interchanges and traffic light-controlled intersections, but like a boulevard in that there is direct access to many of the adjacent properties; the central segment of the road is a curvy freeway. It serves as a partial loop around downtown Greensboro and a popular connector to major routes like I-40, I-73, US 421, US 29, US 220, US 70, and NC 68. It also links urban areas in the Piedmont Triad region like High Point to small communities like McLeansville.
North Carolina Highway 68 (NC 68) is a north–south state highway in North Carolina. It serves as a connector between Interstate 40 (I-40)/ U.S. Route 421 (US 421) and Piedmont Triad International Airport. On its routing from Thomasville to Stokesdale, NC 68 passes through urban High Point, the western outskirts of Greensboro, and the town of Oak Ridge. The segment from just north of the I-40/US 421 interchange to Pleasant Ridge Road in Guilford County is a limited access freeway.
Randleman Lake is a reservoir on the Deep River in Randolph and Guilford Counties in central North Carolina, extending from just northwest of Randleman to east of High Point. The lake was created in 2004 with the construction of the Randleman Lake Dam. The lake was created to satisfy the drinking water needs of the greater Greensboro area for the next 50 years, as well as to provide recreational opportunity.

Senior Resources of Guilford, based in Greensboro and High Point, North Carolina, is a nonprofit organization providing home-based and community-based services that support and promote independent living for older adults. The agency is a community partner of the United Way of Greater Greensboro and the United Way of High Point, and is also a member of the Piedmont Triad Regional Council Area Agency on Aging. Senior Resources of Guilford provides a range of services including information and referral, case assistance, non-emergency medical transportation, nutritional programs, support to family caregivers, and volunteer opportunities. The agency's Executive Director is Ellen Whitlock. Senior Resources of Guilford was founded in 1977 as United Services for Older Adults, changing its name to Senior Resources in 2001. The agency operates numerous programs, including Foster Grandparents. Senior Resources is a member of Senior Corps, and locally administers the federal Foster Grandparents program. The agency also operates an annual Santa for Seniors program. Senior Resources is accredited with the Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (AIRS), and its Evergreens Lifestyle Center Senior Center is a North Carolina Senior Center of Excellence.
