Condado Beach (Spanish: Playa del Condado) is a large public-access beach located in El Condado, a district of Santurce in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is considered a dangerous beach with strong undercurrents. [1]
Condado Beach is located along the Atlantic coast of the San Juan barrio (district) of Santurce. The beach is named after Condado, itself a constituting subbarrio (sector) of Santurce, found directly to the east of the Islet of San Juan. The beach itself extends from La Ventana al Mar Park on Ashford Avenue in the west to Punta Piedrita in the east. Ocean Park Beach is located further east. [2] A smaller beach, called Playita del Condado (Spanish for "Condado's small beach"), is located at the western edge of Condado, directly facing El Boquerón. [3] The beach is dangerous for swimmers and in early 2022 the governor stated steps had to be taken to address the issue of multiple drownings there. [1]
Condado Beach is located in a prime area for tourism and recreation. The beach is bordered by renown casinos and hotels such as La Concha Resort, the San Juan Marriott, and the historic Vanderbilt Hotel. Ashford Avenue, often referred to as the Puerto Rican “Fifth Avenue”, [4] hosts world-renowned brands such as Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Salvatore Ferragamo, and Puerto Rican brands and high-end boutiques such as Nono Maldonado, Lisa Thon, Harry Robles and Ecliptica. The area also has numerous restaurants of different varieties, gift shops, and smaller inns. The part of the beach found at the end of Vendig Street is considered a popular gay neighborhood of El Condado. [2] [5]

Isla Verde is an area of Carolina located east of Santurce next to Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport above the Teodoro Moscoso Bridge. The Condado Vanderbilt Hotel is a historic luxury hotel built in 1919 and located on Ashford Avenue in the district of Condado in San Juan, capital city of the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. The hotel was designed by the architectural firm Warren and Wetmore, who also designed New York's Grand Central Terminal. It was built by the Vanderbilt family and it marked the beginning of high end tourism in Puerto Rico.

La Ventana al Mar on Ashford Avenue in the district of Condado, of San Juan, Puerto Rico is a large public space built in 2004 fronting the Atlantic Ocean. The park is flanked by two of Condado's landmark hotels: to the west by the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel (1919), designed by Warren and Whitmore, and to the east by the La Concha Hotel (1957), designed by Toro Ferrer. The 1.8 hectare public space was developed by the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico's Tourism Company, and has been credited as one of the principal motors steering the district's urban revitalisation.
El Boquerón is a body of water located at the intersection of the Condado Lagoon and the San Antonio Channel in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This body of water separates the Islet of San Juan, where Old San Juan and Puerta de Tierra are located, from El Condado and the Isla Grande peninsula in Santurce. It is separated from the San Antonio Channel by the San Antonio Bridge and from the Condado Lagoon by the Dos Hermanos Bridge. This body of water contains coral reef and habitats important to plant and animal life; it is part of the bigger San Juan Bay National Estuary. These bodies of water are often visited by manatees. The Playita del Condado is located at the eastern end of El Boquerón.
Ocean Park Beach is a large public-access beach located in Ocean Park, a neighborhood of the barrio (district) of Santurce in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The beach used to be known as Último Trolley Beach, since it was the site of the San Juan–Condado streetcar line terminal. A small section located closed to Dr. José Celso Barbosa Park is still referred to as El Último Trolley.
El Escambrón Beach is a public-access beach located in the San Juan Antiguo sub-district (subbarrio) of Puerta de Tierra, next to the Luis Muñoz Rivera Park in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The beach and recreational complex are located on the grounds of the former Escambrón Beach Club and Hotel which featured a large swimming pool enclosed by breakwaters. Although the pool no longer exists, the beach is still enclosed by a series of coral reefs and other natural breakwaters, such as the Peñón de San Jorge reef, making it popular for swimmers and families.
