Conophorus is a genus of bee flies in the family Bombyliidae. There are at least 16 described species in Conophorus in the United States, [1] [2] and 67 total worldwide.

He served as the Russian consul general in New York City during the American Civil War, living in the United States from 1856 to 1877.
