Corixinae is a subfamily of aquatic bugs in the family Corixidae. There are at least 130 described species in Corixinae. [1] [2]
Corixidae is a family of aquatic insects in the order Hemiptera. They are found worldwide in virtually any freshwater habitat and a few species live in saline water. There are about 500 known species worldwide, in 33 genera, including the genus Sigara.
The family Fulgoridae is a large group of hemipteran insects, especially abundant and diverse in the tropics, containing over 125 genera worldwide. They are mostly of moderate to large size, many with a superficial resemblance to Lepidoptera due to their brilliant and varied coloration. Various genera and species are sometimes referred to as lanternflies or lanthorn flies, though they do not emit light.
The subfamily Aphaeninae is a group of hemipteran insects, especially abundant and diverse in the tropics. They belong to the Fulgoridae (fulgorids), though they are not among the better-known members of that family that are called "lantern bugs" or "lanternflies". In 2009, the first molecular analysis of the Fulgoridae challenged the existing structure of eight currently recognized subfamilies and eleven tribes.
Sigara is a genus of water boatmen in the family Corixidae. Some species within this genus are halophiles; for example, occurrences of the genus have been noted in the hypersaline Makgadikgadi Pans in Botswana.
Ledrinae is a relatively small subfamily within the very large and diverse leafhopper family Cicadellidae. Originally placed in its own family, the "Ledridae", it is based on the type genus Ledra.
Deraeocorinae is a subfamily of plant bugs in the family Miridae. There are more than 40 genera and around 500 described species in Deraeocorinae.
Prostemmatinae is a subfamily of damsel bugs in the family Nabidae.
Orsillinae is a subfamily of seed bugs in the family Lygaeidae. There are at least 110 described species in Orsillinae.
Orthotylini is a tribe of plant bugs in the family Miridae. There are at least 50 genera and 540 described species in Orthotylini.
Chlorochroa is a genus of shield (stink) bugs in the family Pentatomidae, found in Europe and North America. There are over 20 described species in Chlorochroa.
Buenoa is a genus of backswimmer. It was created by George Willis Kirkaldy in 1904 to include all species of Anisops from the Western Hemisphere with a two-segmented front tarsus in males, reserving the latter genus for Eastern Hemisphere species with a one-segmented front tarsus in males. It contains 69 described species.
Mesovelia is a genus of water treaders in the family Mesoveliidae. There are more than 30 described species in Mesovelia.
Corixini is a tribe of water boatmen in the family Corixidae. There are about 9 genera and at least 30 described species in Corixini.
Micronectinae is a subfamily of water boatmen in the family Corixidae. There are at least two genera and two described species in Micronectinae.
Trichocorixa is a genus of water boatmen in the family Corixidae. There are about 14 described species in Trichocorixa.
Hesperocorixa is a genus of water boatmen in the family Corixidae. There are more than 20 described species in Hesperocorixa.
Limnogonus is a genus of water striders in the family Gerridae. There are 28 described species in Limnogonus.
