Cubbon Park is an underground metro station on the East-West corridor of the Purple Line of Namma Metro in Bangalore, India. It was opened to the public on 30 April 2016. The station is located a few metres away from one of the entrances to Cubbon Park. [1]
The Cubbon Park metro station, like all other underground stations on the Purple Line, was built using the cut-and-cover method. [2]
There was a proposal to build a 35 km line known as Bangalore High-Speed Rail Link, from Cubbon Road to the Bengaluru International Airport in Devanahalli, according to BMRCL sources. [3] This proposal was later shelved.
Cubbon Park permits artists and students to showcase their work at the station under a project called "Art in Transit". An art installation by Prathmi Mehta, a student of Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology, features a board with the question, "What makes Bangalore?" in English and Kannada. The board instructs the viewer to pick up a thread from the tray next to board, and place it on one of 36 options on the board. The options available include Cubbon Park, Kesari bath, Copper Road, Russell Market, Lalbagh, Manyata Tech Park, Lumbini Gardens, Bull Temple, Indiranagar, Vidhana Soudha, Kengeri drain, Set Dosa, Namma Metro, Electronics City, Bisi bele bath, Bellandur Lake, Gulmohar tree, MG Road, Sankey Tank, and Ragi mudde. As of April 2017, the most popular choices were Electronics City, Bisi bele bath and Cubbon Park. [4]

Namma Metro, also known as Bengaluru Metro, is a rapid transit system serving the city of Bengaluru, the capital city of the state of Karnataka, India. It is the second-longest operational metro network in India with an operational length of 73.75 kilometers, just behind Delhi Metro. Upon its inauguration in 2011, it became the first underground metro system in South India. Namma Metro has a mix of underground, at grade, and elevated stations. Out of the 66 operational metro stations of Namma Metro as of October 2023, there are 57 elevated stations, eight underground stations and one at-grade station. The system runs on standard-gauge tracks.
The Purple Line is a part of the Namma Metro rail system for the city of Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. As of 2023, the line is 43.49 km (27.02 mi) long and spans 37 stations from Challaghatta in the southwest to Whitefield (Kadugodi) to the east. The Purple Line is mostly elevated, with 31 elevated stations, 5 underground stations and 1 at-grade station. The Line passes through many prime activity centers of the city including Whitefield, Krishnarajapura, MG Road, Vidhana Soudha and Majestic station, which is an interchange station between Purple and Green Lines. Ambedkar Road, between Vidhana Soudha and Attara Kacheri, which respectively house the Karnataka Legislature and High Court in Bangalore, India. The station was opened to the public on 30 April 2016.
Nadaprabhu KempegowdaStn., Majestic is an important underground interchange metro station on the east–west corridor of the Purple Line and north–south corridor of Green Line of Namma Metro in Bangalore, in the state of Karnataka, India. It opened to the public on 30 April 2016 as part of Namma Metro's Phase-1. This important metro station serves as the interchange station allowing passengers to transfer between these lines for ease of travel. The station is located within walking distance from BMTC & KSRTC's Kempegowda Bus Station, as also the City's Main Railway station.
