Central Silk Board is an important, upcoming elevated interchange metro station on the north-south corridor of the Yellow Line and Blue Line [1] of Namma Metro in Bengaluru, India. This metro station serves the Central Silk Board area.
As per latest reports, the Yellow Line is slated to be operational between 2nd & 4th weeks of January 2025 [2] due to lots of trial runs along with more trainsets which are needed for commencement of operations. [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] Meanwhile, the elevated section of Blue Line covering a distance of 58.2km (Central Silk Board - KIAL Terminals via Krishnarajapura), is expected to be operational around June 2026.
In December 2016, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) issued a call for bids to construct the Central Silk Board metro station along the 6.340 km Reach 5 – Package 3 section (Central Silk Board - Rashtreeya Vidyalaya Road) of the 18.825 km Yellow Line of Namma Metro. On 16 May 2017, HCC-URC Cementation JV was selected as the lowest bidder for this stretch, with their bid closely aligning with the original cost estimates. [8] Consequently, the contract was successfully awarded to the company, which then commenced construction of the metro station in accordance with the agreements.
In December 2019, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) invited bids for the construction of the Central Silk Board metro station, part of the 9.859 km Reach 2A – Package 1 section (Central Silk Board - Kodibeesanahalli) of the 18.236 km Blue Line of Namma Metro. On 13 October 2020, Afcons Infrastructure was chosen as the lowest bidder for this segment, with their proposal closely matching the initial cost estimates. [9] As a result, the contract was awarded to the company, which led to the beginning of the construction works of this metro station as per the agreed terms.

Rashtreeya Vidyalaya Road is an elevated interchange metro station on the North-South corridor of the Green Line and the East-West corridor of the upcoming Yellow Line of Namma Metro serving the 5th and 8th Block of Jayanagar area of Bangalore, India. It was opened to the public on 18 June 2017.
The Yellow Line of Namma Metro is almost complete and will form part of the metro rail network for the city of Bangalore, Karnataka, India. The 18.82 km (11.69 mi) line connects R.V. Road with Bommasandra, and is fully elevated with 16 stations. R.V. Road station is the terminal station on the city side where an interchange is being provided with the Green Line. Jayadeva Hospital station will serve as another elevated interchange station with the Pink Line that is also under construction in Phase 2 of Namma Metro's expansion. Upon its opening, the Jayadeva Station will be the tallest and largest metro station in Bengaluru, with five levels of transport, including the metro lines. Central Silk Board station will be another interchange station between the Yellow Line and Blue Line. The other end of the Yellow Line will terminate at Bommasandra. The line was scheduled to open in June 2023, but due to construction delays the new date was estimated to be July 2024. As per the latest reports, the Yellow Line is slated to be operational between 2nd and 4th week of January 2025. This postponement has been attributed to a delay in the delivery of coaches from China.
The Blue Line or ORR-Airport Metro Line is part of the Namma Metro rail network for the city of Bangalore, Karnataka, India. It consists of two sections - Phase-2A and Phase-2B. Construction of Phase-2A began in August 2021. Construction of Phase-2B began in February 2022. The 58.19 km line connects Central Silk Board with the Kempegowda International Airport. The Line is mostly elevated but also has an at-grade (surface) section close to the Airport and 2 short underground sections where it passes the Jakkur Aerodrome and Yelahanka AFB. There are 30 stations on the line of which the two station/s at the Airport may be at surface level or underground. Blue Line will have interchanges with the Yellow Line at Central Silk Board, Purple Line at KR Pura, Pink Line at Nagawara and with the future /proposed Orange Line at Hebbal.
