Cynthia Maideyi Muvirimi is a Zimbabwean model and beauty pageant titleholder who represented Zimbabwe in the Miss World 2008 pageant. [1]

Early life

The twelfth of thirteen children, Muvirimi was born in Harare. She attended Cecil John Rhodes Junior School and went on to Thornhill High School, both in Gweru, Zimbabwe. Muvirimi received a diploma in Nursing and an Honorary Bachelor of Science degree from London Southbank University. [2]

Muvirimi has participated in pageants since her high school days. In 1999, she was named Miss Thornhill High and later that year she went on to win the Miss Midlands Schools title.

Pageants

Muvirimi was first runner-up in the UK-based Miss Malaika 2006 pageant.

On 3 June 2007, at the Pegasus Hotel in Kingston, Jamaica, Muvirimi won the title of Miss Global International, and in December of that same year, she won the title of Miss Tourism Zimbabwe, earning a shot at the 2008 Miss World final title [3] in Johannesburg, South Africa on 13 December 2008.

Miss World 2013, the 63rd edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 28 September 2013 at Bali International Convention Center, South Kuta, Bali, Indonesia. It was the first time in Southeast Asia and it also was the first time in the pageant's history that the event was held in a Muslim majority country. Contestants from 127 countries and territories competed in this year's Miss World pageant, marking the biggest turnout for any beauty pageant globally as of 2024. Miss Earth South Sudan is a title given to a South Sudanese who represents South Sudan at Miss Earth, which is an annual international beauty pageant promoting environmental awareness. The national pageant of Miss Earth for South Sudan is conducted by Miss South Sudan Foundation to which Carousel Productions, the owner of Miss Earth, awarded the franchise in 2015.

Collette Nwadike is a Nigerian model, beauty queen and Nollywood actress. She represented Nigeria in the Exquisite Face of the Universe Pageant in Sao Tome and emerged winner, becoming the first African to do so. In 2014 she was the winner of Miss Tourism Nigeria. One month after her victory on a courtesy visit, she was appointed S.A to the Governor of Anambra State Chief Willie Obiano. She is a representative of the Miss Tourism Nigeria brand.
