DYDW (89.1 FM), [1] broadcasting as 89.1 Juander Radyo, is a radio station owned by Word Broadcasting Corporation and operated by RSV Broadcasting Network. The station's studio and transmitter are located at the G/F Dingman Bldg., University of San Carlos, Downtown Campus, P. del Rosario St., Cebu City in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines. [2] [3]
This frequency was formerly used by Ultrasonic Broadcasting System's Energy FM under airtime lease from October 2003 to April 2004, when it transferred to the newly acquired 94.7 FM.
In 1992, a tri-partite Memorandum of Agreement was signed by Word Broadcasting Corporation, together with two private management companies managed the marketing, programming and production of DYDW-FM. Later on, it was known as Citylite 89.1—"The Light of the City"; then it adopted the X89.1 brand in April 2004.
The station became known as Power 89.1 in 2005 under the company's direct management. It has become an alternative music station to other popularity-oriented stations; it is also distinctly Catholic-oriented in its taste in music and above all, in its messages. Added to that is the fact that it is also created for the purpose of development of people's attitude to what is genuinely pleasurable and wholesome music as well as the promotion of Christian values.
The station, operating with 10-kW power, covering Cebu City, southern part of Cebu up to Oslob and northern part of Cebu up to Carmen, Lapu-lapu City and Olango Island, as well as Tagbilaran City and coastal road of Bohol.
Most of its popular shows including Great Moments by Cue Breaker, Power Delights by JT, Power Classics by Francis Fulache, Power by Night by Gabriel and The Word Exposed by his eminence Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle.
At that time, the station's daily broadcasts were operating on eighteen hours from 5:00a.m. until 11:00p.m. Among other radio stations in the city that ceased regular round-the-clock operations due to lockdown measures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, it was in 2020 when it reduced its daily broadcasts to seventeen hours; thus operating until 10:00p.m.
The station halted its operations on December 16, 2021, after the wrath of Typhoon "Rai" (Odette) in Cebu City, causing its transmitter, as well as university and the trees were heavily damaged brought by a storm. However, it briefly returned operations three days later after the electrical power was restored at the USC Downtown Campus to be generating, with several programs from its sister station DYRF subsequently began airing on the station to providing news updates and public service on the typhoon's impact in Cebu, Bohol and Leyte. This was lasted until January 2022 when the station reverted to its music programming. [4]
On August 29, 2025, RSV Broadcasting Network, a company owned by former RMN Dipolog and RMN Malaybalay station manager Richard "Kuya Kardz" Villaronte, successfully acquired the station's airtime lease along with its station in Ormoc. This shift became part of the Juander Radyo network, making it position as the 6th news/music-formatted FM station in the Metro Cebu area, after 93.9 iFM, 88.3 XFM, 106.7 DWIZ News FM, 90.7 Brigada News FM and 101.9 True FM.
