Dave Cousins (born April 16, 1977) is an American compound archer and former number one ranked compound archer in the world. [1]

Career

He held the FITA 720 world record with a score of 712 until it was broken by Canadian Dietmar Trillus. Dietmar's record stood at 713 until it was beaten by Liam Grimwood in July 2011.

He has shot the most 1400 gents fitas recorded in history by one archer. He has competed several times at International Archery Federation (FITA) world championships in the men's compound division.

He finished 2nd in 2003 at the 42nd World Outdoor Target Championship, 18th in 2005 at the 43rd World Outdoor Target Archery Championships, 9th at the 9th Indoor Archery World Championship in 2007, and 33rd at the Archery World Championships in 2009.

In 2010, he won the world field championships held in Visegrád, Hungary. He was last ranked number 1 in the world by FITA on June 20, 2005. [2]

The women's recurve individual archery event at the 2010 Commonwealth Games was a competition held as part of the archery programme at the Yamuna Sports Complex in Delhi, India, from 4 October to 10 October 2010. Irina Markovic is a Dutch compound archer. She is the current World Archery number 17 in women's compound archery. The highest ranking she has reached is the tenth position, which she reached for the last time in April 2011.

The World Archery Rankings is a ranking system developed by the World Archery Federation for international competitive archery. It is calculated using a points system and published following major World Archery tournaments.

The men's individual compound competition at the 2003 World Archery Championships took place in July 2003 in New York City, United States. 107 archers entered the competition. Following a qualifying 144 arrow FITA round, the top 64 archers qualified for the 6-round knockout tournament, drawn according to their qualification round scores. The semi-finals and finals then took place on 20 July.

Lee Seung-yun is a South Korean archer. After winning medals at the World Youth Championships, he was first selected for the South Korean archery team in 2013, in which year he won team and individual medals at the 2013 Archery World Cup, finishing 4th in the World Cup Final in Paris, and reached the final of the 2013 World Archery Championships where he defeated teammate and Olympic champion Oh Jin-hyek. He reached a career high world ranking of 5 in 2013, and in 2016 he ranked 8th.

Maja Marcen, is a Slovenian born athlete, who started archery in 1992. She originally competed for her home country of Slovenia, but now lives and competes for Colombia in compound archery.

Archery at the Pacific Games was first contested at the 1971 games at Papeete. Archery was made a core sport in 2021, and is thus required to be included at every subsequent edition of the Pacific Games. It has also been included in the Pacific Mini Games, firstly at Norfolk Island in 2001 and then Port Vila in 2017.
