David Adams Curtis (born June 22, 1946 in Marblehead, Massachusetts) is an American sailor and sail maker. [2] [3]

As a sailor he competed at the highest level in many National and International classes. He won the World Championships in the Etchells severn times and was second six time. However Dave was successful in many other classes he with five North American, four US, one European and one World Championship in the Soling, [4] [5] [6] [1] and one in the J/24 he won the Worlds once and four North American Championships. As sail maker he held franchises for, among others, Horizon Sails, North Sails and Doyle Sails.

Curtis was inducted into the National Sailing Hall of Fame in 2013. [7]

Harry Gale Nye Jr. was a Chicago-born American industrialist, entrepreneur, and world champion sailor. He graduated from the Berkshire School and joined the class of 1933 at Yale University where he was a member of the Society of Book and Snake. Nye, a descendant of the Yale family whose gift founded the University, left Yale prior to his graduation upon his father's death in order to return home to Chicago to become president of the Nye Tool and Machine Works. The Nye Tool had been the plaintiff in a patent infringement case heard by the United States Supreme Court in 1923.

John Paul Kostecki is an American competitive sailor of Polish descent. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He started his sailing career in the San Francisco Bay, California.

The Mrs. Charles Francis Adams Trophy, or Adams Cup for short, was the competition for the United States Women's Sailing Championship. The donor of the award was Francis Lovering Adams the wife of Charles Francis Adams III, former Secretary to the Navy and skipper of the 1920 America's Cup winner Resolute. It had its origins in the 1924 Hodder Cup. The Adams Cup was raced annually until 2011. Now retired, the Mrs. Charles Francis Adams Trophy is on display in the Reading Room of the Tom Morris Library at the National Sailing Hall of Fame.

Thomas A. Whidden is one of the most-acclaimed sailors of all-time. He is a member of both the America's Cup Hall of Fame and the National Sailing Hall of Fame. Whidden joined North Sails, the world's largest sailmaker, in 1986, just before being part of the crew of the yacht Stars & Stripes in the victory over Australia in the 1987 America's Cup. He became CEO and co-owner of North Technology Group, formerly known as North Marine Group, parent company to North Sails, when it was established several years later.

David Ullman is an international yachtsman, sailboat racer, and sailmaker. Ullman founded Ullman Sails in Newport Beach, California in 1967.

Vicente "Vince" d'Avila Melo Brun is a Brazilian-American Olympic sailor and sail maker that competed in the Soling class at the 1976 and 1980 Summer Olympics. 1976, he finished 10th together with his brother Gastão Brun and Andreas Wengert, and in 1980 he finished 6th together with his brother and Roberto Luiz Souza. He also won three Soling World Championship and the 1986 Star World Championship and participated in the Stars & Stripes America's Cup campaign. Brun moved to the United States in 1975.

James Martinus "Ding" Schoonmaker is an American sailor. He won the 1975 Star World Championship together with Jerry Ford. He has also several other podiums from the Star World Championship and Soling World Championship. Schoonmaker was inducted into the National Sailing Hall of Fame in 2018.

Victor Kovalenko OAM is Ukrainian sailor & coach, now the head coach of the Australian Olympic Sailing Team. Referred as "The Medal Maker," Kovalenko has coached men and women sailors to 11 medals in many Olympic Games, beginning in 1988. Seven of those medals are Gold.

Peter Hall is a sailor from Canada, who represented his country at the 1987 Pan American Games in Indianapolis, United States with team members Scott Morgan and Alain Boucher where they took the Silver medal in the Soling. Also at the 2018 Vintage Yachting Games in Hellerup Denmark, Hall as helmsman together with his fellow crew members Gord de Vries and Johan Offermans took the silver medal in the Soling. Hall is representing Group P in the council of World Sailing. Peter won so far four World Championships. Furthermore, he was president of the International Soling Association from 2015 - 2016.

Timothea "Timmy" Larr is a naval architect and three-time winner of United States Women's Sailing Championship. She was inducted into the National Sailing Hall of Fame in 2013. She is also known for her work in developing training programs for sailors in the United States.

Jane Wiswell Pegel is an American sailor, on water and on ice, who was elected into the United States' National Sailing Hall of Fame in 2021.
