John Kerr (born August 9, 1951) [1] is a Canadian sailor and publisher. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1973. [2]
Kerr started his business career part-time with Howdens Electric (now Westburne / Rexel) and then, after graduating from the University of Western Ontario he joined Canadian Chromalox. Kerr moved to Elvstrom Sails and Fogh Sails in Toronto working with Hans Fogh and John Eastwood and then held the position of Director of Marketing with North Sails Fogh after North Sails acquired Fogh Sails. Moving to the family publishing business Kerr joined Kerrwil Publications Limited in 1980 he has held various positions to his current role of President and CEO. At Kerrwil he founded and established numerous business-to-business and trade titles including CAD CAM & Robotics, Manufacturing Automation, Machinery Technology, Structured Cabling, Lighting and Plastics Business. In 1985 Kerr acquired Canadian Yachting and Power Illustrated from MacLean Hunter. In 1988 he led the formation of an international network of Plastics magazines and followed with an alliance in the electrical industry representing Electrical Construction & Maintenance and Electrical Wholesaling. In 1986 Kerr started the research of the Electrical Market with the Pathfinder Report. Kerr established Kerrwil Millennium in the United Kingdom with Geoff Ide to publish Structured Cabling Europe in 1998.
In his role with Kerrwil he established Pathfinder "Canada's electrical industry benchmarking study" that reports and measures the Canadian electrical channel.
In 2014 Kerr established Electrical Industry.ca a network of electrical B2B web sites serving the electrical industry, including Electrical Industry News Week, Le Monde de L'électricité, a title Kerrwil reacquired from Transcontinental Publishing), Canadian Electrical Wholesaler, Lighting Design and Specification, Drives and Control Solutions and Panel Builder and Systems Integrator and Mechatronics.. In 2020 Kerr established Kerrwil EMG in Raleigh North Carolina to launch Panelbuilder US and Robotics World. In 2022 Kerr collaborated with David Gordon of Channel Marketing group to launch US Lighting Trends.
Kerr has worked outside the family firm with Laurentian Publishing, Page Publishing, LinkPATH Internet Network Corporation and Web Offset Publications (now Renaissance Printing), IP Group international (an electrical industry consulting firm founded by Paul Eitmant) and advised Thomas Publishing in the USA. Prior to his publishing Career, Kerr worked in the electrical industry with Howdens Electric ( now Rexel), London Ontario and Canadian Chromalox and then alongside Hans Fogh at Elvstrom Sails and North Sails Fogh.
Kerr has chaired the Canadian Business Press twice (1990- 1992) and most recently 2012-2017 helping the association align with Magazines Canada. He sat on the board of BPA International from 1995 to 2001 and was involved in the merging of the Canadian Circulations Audit board with BPA Worldwide.

Boat racing powered by oars is recorded as having occurred in ancient Egypt, and it is likely that people have engaged in races involving boats and other water-borne craft for as long as such watercraft have existed.

Jonathan Bryan Toews is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre who is an unrestricted free agent. Toews most recently played for the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL), where he served as the team's captain between 2008 and 2023. Nicknamed "Captain Serious", Toews was selected by the Blackhawks with the third overall pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He joined the team in 2007–08 and was nominated for the Calder Memorial Trophy as NHL Rookie of the Year. The following season he was named team captain, becoming the second-youngest captain in NHL history at the time. Toews won the Stanley Cup in 2010, along with the Conn Smythe Trophy for the most valuable player in the playoffs. After winning the Cup, Toews passed Peter Forsberg as the youngest player to join the Triple Gold Club. He won the Stanley Cup again in 2013 and 2015.

The Royal Canadian Yacht Club (RCYC) is a private yacht club in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1852, it is one of the world's older and larger yacht clubs. Its summer home is on a trio of islands in the Toronto Islands. Its winter home since 1984 has been a purpose-built clubhouse located at 141 St. George Street in Toronto, which includes facilities for sports and social activities. In 2014, the club had approximately 4700 members, about 450 yachts and a number of dinghies, principally International 14s.
C&C Yachts was a builder of high-performance fiberglass monohull sailboats with production facilities in Canada, Germany, and the United States. C&C designed and constructed a full range of production line cruiser-racer boats, as well as custom one-off and short production run racing and cruising boats. C&C boats ranged in size from as small as 21 ft (6.4 m) to as large as 67 ft (20.4 m). C&C also produced a line of bluewater cruising boats in the 35 ft (10.7 m) to 48 ft (14.6 m) range under its Landfall brand. In addition, C&C designed sailboats for production by a number of other manufacturers such as CS Yachts, Mirage Yachts, Northern Yachts, Ontario Yachts, Paceship Yachts, and Tanzer Industries.

Andrew Blair Tuke is a New Zealand sailor who won the 2021 Americas Cup Held in Auckland and also won the 2017 Version held in Bermuda. He also won the gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics, and the silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the 49er class alongside Peter Burling.
Rudy den Outer is a sailor from the Netherlands, who represented his country at the 2008 Vintage Yachting Games in Medemblik, as helmsman in the Dutch Soling Sophie's Choice. Den Outer with crew members Leo Determan and Ronald den Arend took the Gold. In the 2012 Vintage Yachting Games, this time with crew members Gavin Lidlow and Ramzi Souli the team took the Silver medal in Bellano, Italy. In 2003 with helmsman Fred Imhoff and Richard van Rij he became European Champion in the Dragon at Kinsale, Ireland. Den Outer is also very active in the organization of major International Sailing events for Olympic and former Olympic classes.
Canadian Yachting is a bi-monthly magazine, and boating news website which documents the Canadian yachting scene - from dinghies to keelboats, cruising to racing, youth sailing and around the world events. Canadian Yachting is published in Midland, Ontario by publisher Greg Nicoll, with Managing Editor Andy Adams, and has a paid circulation of 30,000. Canadian Yachting also produces related bi-Weekly e-newsletters in National, West and Atlantic editions, as well as a digital magazine edition. Canadian Yachting maintains a comprehensive web site, under the care of Online Editor John Morris, which first went online in November 2009.
Erich Bruckmann was a boat builder and founder of Bruckmann Manufacturing, one of four companies that in 1969 formed C&C Yachts, a Canadian yacht builder that dominated North American sailing in the 1970s and early 1980s.
