Day & Night is the sixth extended play by South Korean girl group Kara, released on August 18, 2014, with the lead single "Mamma Mia". [1] It marks their first released with new member Heo Youngji after the departure of members Nicole and Jiyoung earlier in the year. [2]
After the departure of Nicole Jung and Kang Jiyoung from the group, DSP Media started a TV show titled Kara Project , a reality TV program which revolves around seven trainees who competed to become the new member of the group. On July 1, 2014, Heo Youngji was proclaimed the winner. Following her victory, DSP announced plans for the group to release a South Korean album in August before embarking on a concert tour in Japan on October. [2] [3] Producer Duble Sidekick was later announced to be working on the record. [4]
On July 16, it was reported that the group finished the recordings of the mini-album's promotional single music video. [5] On August 1, it was revealed that its title track will also be released as single in Japan after it received good reviews from Japanese affiliates. [6] The full track listing of the single was unveiled on August 8, with "So Good" serving as its B-side. [7]
The EP consists of six tracks. The first five tracks, including the lead single "Mamma Mia", were composed by Duble Sidekick. The music video was filmed in the Gyonggi Province on July 9. [8] The song will also be released as the group's eleventh Japanese single after it received good reviews from Japanese affiliate label, Universal Sigma. [6] The last track on the album, titled "Story", were co-written by members Park Gyuri, Han Seung Yeon, and Goo Hara. [9]
The group held an album showcase on August 18, same day as the EP's release, at UNIQLO-AX Hall and was also aired on channels SBS MTV in South Korea and TBS in Japan on August 24. [10]
The track listing was revealed on August 8. A video of the album preview was uploaded on Kara's official YouTube channel. [9]

Kara is a South Korean girl group formed by DSP Media in 2007. The group's current lineup is Gyuri, Seungyeon, Nicole, Jiyoung, and Youngji. Kara made their debut in March 2007 with their first studio album, The First Bloooooming, and its title track, "Break It." Originally a quartet composed of Park Gyuri, Han Seungyeon, Nicole Jung, and Kim Sunghee, Kara showcased a strong female image and a mature R&B sound. Expectations for the group were high because they were considered the successors to their senior labelmates, Fin.K.L; however, their debut was a commercial failure. The following year, Sunghee left the group due education issues and parental pressure, and members Goo Hara and Kang Jiyoung were added.
Revolution is the second studio album and second Korean material release by South Korean girl group Kara, released on July 30, 2009, by DSP Media. The album was the band's first regular release to be recorded under the second line-up, featuring members Goo Hara and Kang Jiyoung, who replaced Kim Sunghee after her withdrawal in 2008. The album was released in Japan on February 23, 2011.
Lupin is the third Korean extended play (EP) by South Korean girl group Kara, released on February 17, 2010, by DSP. Nicole Yongju Jung, referred to as Nicole, is an American singer based in South Korea. She is a member of South Korean girl group Kara. Her solo debut mini album, First Romance, was released on November 19, 2014.
Kang Ji-young, known mononymously as Jiyoung or under the stage name JY, is a South Korean singer and actress. At age 14, she rose to fame as a member of the South Korean girl group Kara, joining the group in 2008. Dubbed as "Hallyu Queens", Kara achieved mainstream success across Asia, particularly in Japan where they earned ten top-five singles on the Oricon Singles Chart, and became the first female South Korean act to perform at the Tokyo Dome. Kang left Kara in April 2014, but rejoined for the group's 15th anniversary commemorative album Move Again (2022), and subsequent concert tour (2024).
Kara has released nine studio albums, eight compilation albums, seven extended plays, and twenty-eight singles. The group's debut studio album The First Blooming was released on March 29, 2007. Karasia are a series of concert tours by South Korean girl group Kara. The first concert tour titled Karasia began in Seoul, South Korea in February 2012, and continued with 12 shows in Japan starting in Yokohama in April. The tour was also planned to have dates in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia and others, but this never came to fruition.
"Speed Up / Girl's Power" is the sixth Japanese single by South Korean girl group Kara. It was released on March 21, 2012, and was the group's first double A-side single.
A-Jax was a South Korean boy band formed by DSP Media in 2012. Early in their career, the group was known as DSP Boyz but then was changed to A-Jax. The group's final lineup was composed of five members: Hyeongkon, Yunyoung, Seungjin, Seungyeop, and Junghee. They made the first appearance on TV as a group on MBC Music's Making the Star – DSP Boyz on April 24, 2012. The group made its official debut with the single "One 4 U" in South Korea on June 1 and in Japan on August 8, 2012 with the same song.
Puretty was a South Korean girl group formed by DSP Media. The group debuted in Japan in 2012 through the anime series Pretty Rhythm: Dear My Future, where fictionalized versions of the members appeared as the secondary cast, and their songs, "Check it Love" and "Shuwa Shuwa Baby", were used as the series' ending theme songs. Despite plans for them to make their Korean debut, the group disbanded in January 2014, with DSP Media announcing the possibility of its members becoming part of other groups in the future.

Heo Young-ji, better known mononymously as Youngji, is a South Korean singer, dancer, entertainer and television personality. She is best known as a member of girl group Kara. In 2023, Heo Young-ji made her official solo debut with the release of the single "L.O.V.E."
In Love is the seventh extended play released by the South Korean girl group Kara, on May 26, 2015 with the lead single "Cupid".
April (Korean: 에이프릴) was a South Korean girl group formed by DSP Media. The group debuted on August 24, 2015, with their EP Dreaming and its title track "Dream Candy". The group's final lineup was composed of six members: Chaekyung, Chaewon, Naeun, Yena, Rachel, and Jinsol. The group officially disbanded on January 28, 2022.
Move Again is the eighth extended play released by the South Korean girl group Kara, released on November 29, 2022 through RBW, marketed as their "15th Anniversary Special Album". The EP marks their first release since their disbandment in 2016, their first to feature Nicole and Jiyoung since their departure in 2014, and their first to be released following the death of member Hara in November 2019. A Japanese version of the album released on December 21.
