The Dhaka Metropolis cricket team is a Bangladeshi first-class cricket team based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The team competes in the National Cricket League.

Dhaka Metropolis played in the 2000-01 season, playing most of its home games at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. When the National Cricket League was expanded from six teams to eight in 2011-12, Dhaka Metropolis returned, along with the newly formed Rangpur Division team. Since then Dhaka Metropolis has had no settled home ground, playing its home matches at several grounds in the Dhaka area.

At the end of the 2017–18 season Dhaka Metropolis had played 58 matches, with 15 wins, 15 losses and 28 draws. [1] The highest score is 209 by Marshall Ayub in 2012–13. [2] The best bowling figures are 8 for 35 by Talha Jubair in 2012–13. [3]

Marshall Ayub is a Bangladeshi cricketer who represents Dhaka Metropolis and the Chittagong Kings. An all-rounder, he bowls right-arm leg spin, and bats right-handed. He began his career representing Barisal Division in 2005–06 before moving on to play for Dhaka Division for the 2006–07 season and Dhaka Metropolis in 2011. Ayub has also represented the Bangladesh A side and played for Cyclones of Chittagong, Khulna Royal Bengals and Chittagong Kings in the now defunct Bangladesh National Cricket League and the Bangladesh Premier League respectively.

The Bangladesh national cricket team toured New Zealand in November and December 1997 and played four first-class and four List A matches against teams representing the northern, central and southern regions of New Zealand. Bangladesh also played three List A matches. They lost two by large margins, one was unfinished, and a fourth was abandoned without play. Bangladesh were captained by Akram Khan. Bangladesh had just won the 1997 ICC Trophy and was a candidate for Test status, which was granted on 26 June 2000.

The players auction for the 2012 Bangladesh Premier League was held on 19 January 2012 at the Hotel Radisson, Dhaka. Each franchise can sign a total of 10 local players and 8 foreign players, and can play up to 5 foreign players in each match. Each franchise will also have one domestic icon player in their team. Players were allowed to set their base price between $20,000 to $100,000.

The players auction for the 2013 Bangladesh Premier League was held on December 20, 2012, at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel, Dhaka. Domestic players were set a base price between $10,000 and $50,000, while international players were set a base price between $15,000 and $75,000.No Indian players included in 2013 BPL edition.

The 1997–98 Coca-Cola Triangular Series was a One Day International cricket tournament held in India in May 1998. It was a tri-nation series between Bangladesh, India and Kenya. India defeated Kenya in the final to win the tournament.

Masters' Cricket Carnival - Bangladesh (MCC-Bangladesh) is an initiative of former national cricketers of Bangladesh. Every year, the tournament takes place in different cities of Bangladesh and is contested by former national & first class cricketers of Bangladesh.

The 2018–19 National Cricket League was the twentieth edition of the National Cricket League (NCL), a first-class cricket competition that was held in Bangladesh. The tournament started on 1 October 2018, with eight teams placed into two tiers. Khulna Division were the defending champions.

The 2018–19 Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 Cricket League was the first edition of the Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 Cricket League, a Twenty20 cricket competition that was held in Bangladesh. It started on 25 February 2019 and concluded on 4 March 2019. The tournament took place directly before the 2018–19 Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, and features the same twelve teams. The final of the competition was played as a night game at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
