Odense is the third-largest city in Denmark. It has a population of 180,302, and is the main city of the island of Funen. By road, Odense is located 45 kilometres (28 mi) north of Svendborg, 144 kilometres (89 mi) to the south of Aarhus and 167 kilometres (104 mi) to the southwest of Copenhagen. The city is the seat of Odense Municipality and was the seat of Odense County until 1970, and Funen County from 1970 until 1 January 2007, when Funen County became part of the Region of Southern Denmark. Odense has close associations with Hans Christian Andersen who is remembered above all for his fairy tales. He was born in the city in 1805 and spent his childhood years there.

Kerteminde Municipality is a municipality in Region of Southern Denmark on the northeast coast of the island of Funen in central Denmark. The municipality includes the island of Romsø, and it covers an area of 203 km2. It has a total population of 23,630 (2008). Its mayor is Sonja Rasmussen, a former member of the Social Democratic Party (Socialdemokraterne). Just after the 2009 local election, Rasmussen became an Independent and was elected as the new mayor with the support of the right-wing parties. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Kerteminde.
Vollsmose is a suburb of Odense, the third largest city in Denmark. Approximately 3 km northeast of central Odense, towards Odense Fjord. It has around 10.000 inhabitants and is characterised by a modern housing development project from the 1970s.
Vordingborg is an old ferry town in Vordingborg Municipality in Denmark with around 18.000 inhabitants. Because of three large estates surrounding the town, a coherent urban development has not been possible, which is the reason why three satellite towns have emerged around the town. Within the ring of estates, the town has 12,000 inhabitants, and 18.043 inhabitants when including the three satellite towns of Ørslev, Nyråd and Stensved, situated 1, 3 and 5 kilometres, respectively, from the town of Vordingborg. Vordingborg Municipality (Kommune) has a population of 46,000.

Odense Teater is a theater in the city of Odense in Denmark. It can be dated back to 1796 which makes it Denmark's second oldest theater. It is one of the country's three main theaters.
The Danish Museum of Photographic Art is in Odense, Denmark. It is the only national Danish art museum dedicated specifically to photographic art. It was founded in 1987 as part of the Brandts International Center for Art and Culture.
Odense Harbour is the port of Odense, Denmark. Founded in 1803, Denmark's only canal harbour is the country's seventh largest commercial port in terms of turnover. It consists primarily of Inner Harbour, at the end of Odense Canal, and Odense Steel Terminal of Munkebo, which is located adjacent to the Odense Steel Shipyard. The port has a land area of approximately 4,000,000 square metres (43,000,000 sq ft) and a water area of almost 1,000,000 square metres (11,000,000 sq ft). Its industrial importance has declined since the 1960s, but a transformation is underway, including new residential and small business areas.
Odense Palace in the city of Odense on the Danish island of Funen has its origins in a 15th-century monastery which passed to the Crown after the Reformation, and since then has served as an administrative building: in turn as a seigneurial residence, an amt administrator's residence, a governor's residence, and a municipal government building. The main white Baroque building with 13 bays was designed by J.C. Krieger and completed in 1723.

Tornø is a small island in the Odense Fjord, roughly 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) northeast of the city of Odense, in Kerteminde Municipality, Funen, Denmark. It covers an area of 21 hectares and is connected to the mainland by a 300 m (980 ft)-long causeway. The first tenant farmer on the island was Hans Eriksen in 1921.
Odense Central Library is the public library for Odense, Denmark, and central library of Funen. Established in 1924, it is an integrated part of Odense Railway Station, as a result of a 1995 re-use project. It is visited by about 1.5 million people annually and lends approximately 2.3 million works. Odense Music Library is a main department of Odense County Library, and it contains the largest collection of phonograms in Scandinavia and Denmark’s largest number of titles.
King's Garden is a large, formal palace park in central Odense, Denmark. Located directly across from the Odense station, it is bounded by Railroad Street to the west and Eastern Stationsvej to the north. It stands in front of Odense Palace.
