Paarup is a village and western suburb of Odense, in Funen, Denmark. [1]
Odense is the third-largest city in Denmark. It has a population of 180,302, and is the main city of the island of Funen. By road, Odense is located 45 kilometres (28 mi) north of Svendborg, 144 kilometres (89 mi) to the south of Aarhus and 167 kilometres (104 mi) to the southwest of Copenhagen. The city is the seat of Odense Municipality and was the seat of Odense County until 1970, and Funen County from 1970 until 1 January 2007, when Funen County became part of the Region of Southern Denmark. Odense has close associations with Hans Christian Andersen who is remembered above all for his fairy tales. He was born in the city in 1805 and spent his childhood years there.
Odense Municipality is a Danish municipality (kommune) in Southern Denmark on the island of Funen in central Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 304.34 km2 (118 sq mi), and has a population of 204,895. It is the most populous municipality in Region of Southern Denmark.
Odense Harbour is the port of Odense, Denmark. Founded in 1803, Denmark's only canal harbour is the country's seventh largest commercial port in terms of turnover. It consists primarily of Inner Harbour, at the end of Odense Canal, and Odense Steel Terminal of Munkebo, which is located adjacent to the Odense Steel Shipyard. The port has a land area of approximately 4,000,000 square metres (43,000,000 sq ft) and a water area of almost 1,000,000 square metres (11,000,000 sq ft). Its industrial importance has declined since the 1960s, but a transformation is underway, including new residential and small business areas.
The Carl Nielsen Museum is a museum in Odense, Denmark. The museum is located as an extension on the northwestern side of the Odense Concert Hall.
Odense City Hall houses the administrative offices of Odense Municipality in the city of Odense on the Danish island of Funen.
Tornø is a small island in the Odense Fjord, roughly 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) northeast of the city of Odense, in Kerteminde Municipality, Funen, Denmark. It covers an area of 21 hectares and is connected to the mainland by a 300 m (980 ft)-long causeway. The first tenant farmer on the island was Hans Eriksen in 1921.
Tusindårsskoven is a forest in southwestern Odense, Funen, Denmark. Measuring approximately 74,000 square metres (800,000 sq ft), it is located between the districts Bolbro and Sanderum, and is situated between the railway and the Odense Adventure Golf. The open grass area features a hill and is surrounded by newer afforestation. The forest was established in 1988, in connection with Odense Municipality's celebration of the city's thousandth anniversary.
