There are 137 local government areas of Western Australia (LGAs), which are areas, towns and districts in Western Australia that manage their own affairs to the extent permitted by the Local Government Act 1995. The Local Government Act 1995 also makes provision for regional local governments (referred to as "regional councils", established by two or more local governments for a particular purpose.
The City of Ballarat is a local government area in the west of the state of Victoria, Australia. It covers an area of 739 square kilometres (285 sq mi) and, in June 2018, had a population of 107,325. It is primarily urban with the vast majority of its population living in the Greater Ballarat urban area, while other significant settlements within the LGA include Buninyong, Waubra, Learmonth and Addington. It was formed in 1994 from the amalgamation of the City of Ballarat, Shire of Ballarat, Borough of Sebastopol and parts of the Shire of Bungaree, Shire of Buninyong, Shire of Grenville and Shire of Ripon.
Local government is the third level of government in Australia, administered with limited autonomy under the states and territories, and in turn beneath the federal government. Local government is not mentioned in the Constitution of Australia, and two referendums in 1974 and 1988 to alter the Constitution relating to local government were unsuccessful. Every state/territory government recognises local government in its own respective constitution. Unlike the two-tier local government system in Canada or the United States, there is only one tier of local government in each Australian state/territory, with no distinction between counties and cities.
Nasarawa State is a state in the North Central region of Nigeria, bordered to the east by the states of Taraba and Plateau, to the north by Kaduna State, to the south by the states of Kogi and Benue, and to the west by the Federal Capital Territory. The estimated population of Ikpoba Okha is 301,447 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s dwellers being members of the Bini ethnic division.
Ikole is a Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Ikole. The current Chairman of the Local Government is Prince Olominu Sola Ebenezer, who polled a total of 21,228 votes to defeat other candidates in the 2019 local government election in Ekiti State, Nigeria that was organised by the state Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC). He was sworn in alongside other newly elected chairpersons and vice chairpersons for the 16 Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Nigeria by Dr. Kayode Fayemi, governor of the state on 31 December 2019. The Local Government Chairman is the Head of the Local Government Council, as well as the approving officer for funds disbursement and the Chief Security Officer for the Ikole Local Government Area. Prince Olominu Sola administration has prioritised infrastructural development in the area of boreholes rehabilitation, electricity reconnection of Ara Ekiti, construction of blocks of locks up shops, as well as investment in basic education and grassroots sports development, and urban renewal policies for improved trade and commerce.
