Kogi State is a state in the North Central region of Nigeria, bordered to the west by the states of Ekiti and Kwara, to the north by the Federal Capital Territory, to the northeast by Nasarawa State, to the northwest by Niger State, to the southwest by the Edo and Ondo states, to the southeast by the states of Anambra and Enugu, and to the east by Benue State. It is the only state in Nigeria to border ten other states. Named for the Hausa word for river (Kogi). Kogi State was formed from parts of Benue State, Niger State, and Kwara State on 27 August 1991. The state is nicknamed the "Confluence State" due to the fact that the confluence of the River Niger and the River Benue occurs next to its capital, Lokoja.
Ilorin is the capital city of Kwara State located in the North-central region of Nigeria, although dominated by Yorubas, it is classified as North-central state due to its emirate system of traditional rule. As of the 2006 census, it had a population of 777,667, making it the 7th largest city by population in Nigeria.
Ekiti State is a state in southwestern Nigeria, bordered to the North by Kwara State for 61 km, to the Northeast by Kogi State for 92 km, to the South and Southeast by Ondo State, and to the West by Osun State for 84 km. Named for the Ekiti people—the Yoruba subgroup that make up the majority of the state's population—Ekiti State was carved out from a part of Ondo State in 1996 and has its capital as the city of Ado-Ekiti.

The Ìgbómìnà are a subgroup of the Yoruba ethnic group, which originates from the north central and southwest Nigeria. They speak a dialect called Ìgbómìnà or Igbonna, classified among the Central Yoruba of the three major Yoruba dialectical areas. The Ìgbómìnà spread across what is now southern Kwara State and northern Osun State. Peripheral areas of the dialectical region have some similarities to the adjoining Ekiti, Ijesha and Oyo dialects.
Ora-Igbomina is an ancient Igbomina town in Ifedayo Local Government Area, Osun State, Nigeria. With Oke-Ila Orangun, it constitutes the two major towns in the local government area. The conjoining boundary town among Osun, Ekiti and Kwara States, this historical town was the first town to accept Christianity(ref.: and invariably Western education in Igbominaland. Christianity was brought to Ora in 1895 by CMS missionaries led by a son of the soil - a returnee from the slave trade named Pa Olasehinde. St. Stephen Anglican Church was established in 1895. The first primary school in Igbominaland - stretching from present-day Osun to Kwara States - St. Stephen's Anglican Primary School was established in 1912. Ora is referred to as "The Cradle of Education and Christianity in Igbomina Land, and by extension to parts of Moba Division of present-day Ekiti State and also in the whole of the old Osun North East Division of the old Western Region, which covers almost half of the present Osun State.

Isin is a Local Government Area in Kwara State, Nigeria. Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State was created from the old Irepodun Local Government Area in 1996 with the headquarters at Owu-Isin. It has an area of 633 km2 and a population of 59,738 at the 2006 census.

Omupo or Omu-ipo is an ancient Igbomina-Yoruba town situated in the southeastern part of Kwara State. It is one of the prominent towns in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the State. It is the headquarters of 34 communities of Omupo District, the headquarters of Omupo/Idofian Area Council of Ifelodun Local Government. Omupo Constituency was also created in 1979 for a representative to the Kwara State House of Assembly.
The Akure Kingdom is a traditional state with headquarters in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria. It is the successor to an ancient Yoruba city state of the same name. The ruler bears the title "Deji of Akure".
Aran-Orin is a town in Irepodun local government area of Kwara State, Nigeria. It originated from Ile-Ife. It is a border town located very close to Osun State and Ekiti State to the west and south respectively. Aran-Orin is about 8 kilometres (5 mi) from Omu-Aran the local government headquarters. Other towns in close proximity are Arandun, Rore, Ipetu, Erinmope and Ilale all in Kwara State. Ora-Igbomina is the closest town in Osun State.
Omuo-Ekiti is an ancient town in the eastern part of Ekiti State in western Nigeria, and the seat of the Ekiti-East local government. Being inside Yorubaland, its population and that of Ekiti State are mainly the Yoruba It is located on the border of the state of Ondo.
The Ekiti people are one of the largest historical subgroups of the larger Yoruba people of West Africa, located in Nigeria. They are classified as a Central Yoruba group, alongside the Ijesha, Igbomina, Yagba and Ifes. Ekiti State is populated exclusively by Ekiti people; however, it is but a segment of the historic territorial domain of Ekiti-speaking groups, which historically included towns in Ondo State such as Akure, Ilara-Mokin, Ijare, and Igbara-oke. Ogbagi, Irun, Ese, Oyin, Igasi, Afin and Eriti in the Akoko region, as well as some towns in Kwara State, are also culturally Ekiti, although belong in other states today.
Owu Waterfalls is a waterfall located between Owa Onire and Owa Kajola in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Nigeria. It is the tallest waterfall in West Africa measuring 120m above sea level and cascades 330 feet down an escarpment, with rocky outcrops into a pool of ice-cold water below.
Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim was a Nigerian politician who was a senator from Kwara State. He represented Kwara South Senatorial District in the 8th National Assembly. Senator Ibrahim was the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, and also a member of Senate Committees on Appropriation, Federal Character and Inter Government Affairs, and Media and Public Affairs.
The 2023 Kwara State gubernatorial election will take place on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Kwara State, concurrent with elections to the Kwara State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—will be held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has been renominated by his party.
