Premise

A young girl grows up in the world of the mortals, unknowingly she is the lost offspring of Sang'gre Danaya – the queen of Encantadia. [1]

Development

Encantadia is a 2005 Philippine television series broadcast by GMA Network. Created by Suzette Doctolero, it starred Sunshine Dizon, Iza Calzado, Karylle, Diana Zubiri, Dingdong Dantes and Jennylyn Mercado. The series led to two television series, Etheria: Ang Ikalimang Kaharian ng Encantadia (2005–06) and Encantadia: Pag-ibig Hanggang Wakas (2006) which both served as sequels. In 2016, a reboot television series premiered, under the same title. It starred Glaiza de Castro, Kylie Padilla, Gabbi Garcia and Sanya Lopez. [19] On December 31, 2021, the television series Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre was announced for a 2022 release for GMA Network, acting as a spin-off to the reboot series. [20] On December 29, 2023, the series was delayed to 2024. [21]

Pre-production

The series is written by Doctolero, and directed by Mark A. Reyes. R.J. Nuevas serves as the creative director. Screenwriters Ricky Lee, Anna Aleta Nadela, Jake Somera, Ays de Guzman and program manager Ali Nokom-Dedicatoria are also a part of the production team. [22] [23]

Casting

In October 2023, Philippine actress Bianca Umali's photo from the series was released at the San Diego Comic-Con. [24] Philippine actor Kelvin Miranda and Philippine actresses Faith da Silva and Angel Guardian were announced in the same month. [25] In November, Philippine actress Rhian Ramos was cast as the series' villainess, Mitena. [3]

Encantadia is a Filipino fantasy franchise produced and published by GMA Network. It consists of four television series that have run from 2005 to present and a single film. The first was shown in 2005 carrying the title alone and ended in the same year with total of 160 episodes. The second series title Etheria: Ang Ikalimang Kaharian ng Encantadia premiered in the same year and ended in 2006 with 50 episodes. Due to its significant success, the third series title Encantadia: Pag-ibig Hanggang Wakas premiered in 2006 consisting of 48 episodes. In 2016, 11 years after the original run, a reboot of the series premiered on the same network featuring a new cast. In 2005, Encantadia had a crossover film with Mulawin entitled Mulawin: The Movie, which was produced by GMA Pictures as an entry to the 2005 Metro Manila Film Festival.
