Eriolobus is a former genus of plants in the family Rosaceae, native to Europe and the Middle East that is synonymized with Malus , the apples. [2] [3] Two species formerly included in it were Eriolobus florentinus, now Malus florentina and Eriolobus trilobatus, now Malus trilobata . [4] [5]

It is used as a salt‑tolerant rootstock for apples, Malus domestica, as it can survive NaCl concentrations up to 0.6%. A number of ornamental cultivars are available, including 'Golden Hornet' and 'Professor Sprenger'.
