All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is an American professional wrestling promotion based in Jacksonville, Florida. It is owned by father and son duo Shahid and Tony Khan, with the latter serving as president and chief executive officer. AEW is headquartered at EverBank Stadium, the home of the National Football League's Jacksonville Jaguars, which is also owned by Shahid Khan.

This is a minor broadcast change from the previous year, as it had aired in three-parts that included Saturday Night Collision which will instead air as a different special called Christmas Collision.

It will be the fifth annual New Year's Smash and will take place on December 22, 2024, at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, New York, and will air on tape delay on December 27 as a special New Year's-themed episode of Friday Night Rampage on TNT in the United States. This is a change from previous events which aired on multiple nights, encompassing AEW's other weekly programs. This will also be the final episode of Rampage as the program was not included in the media rights deal that will take effect beginning in January 2025.
