The original draw for football competition was held on 14 August 1962. [2]

Burma withdrew after the draw, while Israel and Taiwan withdrew after Indonesian immigration officials refused to issue visas for their delegations. The revised draw took place on 24 August 1962. [3]

Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, formerly Senayan Main Stadium and Gelora Senayan Main Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium located at the center of the Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex in Central Jakarta, Indonesia. The 1962 Asian Games also known as the 4th Asian Games, IV Asiad, and Jakarta 1962, was the fourth edition of pan-Asian multi-sport event sanctioned by the Asian Games Federation (AGF). The games were held from 24 August to 4 September 1962, in Jakarta, Indonesia. It was the first international multi-sport event hosted by the then-17-year-old Southeast Asian country. This was the first of two Asian Games hosted by the city: the second was held in 2018, with Palembang as the co-host.

The association football tournament at the 1956 Summer Olympics was won by the Soviet Union.

The 1985–86 Asian Club Championship was the fifth edition of the annual Asian club football competition hosted by the Asian Football Confederation, and was the first such tournament in 14 years. Several clubs played in the qualifying round in the fall of 1985, with the final tournament being held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from 19 to 29 January 1986.

The 1995–96 Liga Indonesia Premier Division was the second season of the Liga Indonesia Premier Division, the top division of Indonesian football. The season began on 26 November 1995 and ended on 6 October 1996. Bandung Raya won the title after beating PSM 2–0 in the final.

The 1995 Liga Indonesia Premier Division Final was a football match that took place on 30 July 1995 at Gelora Senayan Main Stadium in Jakarta. It was contested by Petrokimia Putra and Persib to determine the inaugural winner of the Premier Division. Persib won the match 1–0 with the goal scored by Sutiono Lamso in the 76th minute for their first-ever professional title. For winning the title, Persib gained entry to the 1995 Asian Club Championship. Meanwhile, Petrokimia Putra gained entry to the 1995 Asian Cup Winners' Cup as runners-up.
