Interstate 71 (I-71) is a north–south Interstate Highway in the Midwestern and Southeastern regions of the United States. Its southern terminus is at an interchange with I-64 and I-65 in Louisville, Kentucky, and its northern terminus at an interchange with I-90 in Cleveland, Ohio. I-71 runs concurrently with I-75 from a point about 20 miles (32 km) south of Cincinnati, Ohio, into Downtown Cincinnati. While most odd numbered Interstates run north–south, I-71 takes more of a northeast–southwest course, with some east–west sections, and is mainly a regional route serving Kentucky and Ohio. It links I-80 and I-90 to I-70, and ultimately links to I-40. Major metropolitan areas served by I-71 include Louisville, Cincinnati, Columbus, and Cleveland.
Boone County is a county located on the Ohio River in the northernmost part of the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 135,968, making it the fourth-most populous county in Kentucky. Its county seat is Burlington. The county was formed in 1798 from a portion of Campbell County. and was named for frontiersman Daniel Boone. Boone County, with Kenton and Campbell Counties, is of the Northern Kentucky metro area, and the Cincinnati-Middletown, OH-KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is the location of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, which serves Cincinnati and the tri-state area.

The airport serves the Cincinnati tri-state area. The airport's code, CVG, is derived from the nearest city at the time of its opening, Covington, Kentucky. CVG covers an area of 7,700 acres (3,100 ha).
U.S. Route 42 is an east–west United States highway that runs southwest–northeast for 350 miles (560 km) from Louisville, Kentucky to Cleveland, Ohio. The route has several names including Pearl Road from Cleveland to Medina in Northeast Ohio, Reading Road in Cincinnati, Cincinnati and Lebanon Pike in southwestern Ohio and Brownsboro Road in Louisville. Traveling northeast, the highway ends in downtown Cleveland and traveling southwest ends in Louisville.
Interstate 275 (I-275) is an 83.71-mile-long (134.72 km) highway in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky that forms a complete beltway around the Cincinnati metropolitan area and includes a part in a state (Indiana) not entered by the parent route. It had been the only auxiliary Interstate that enters three states, but that changed in July 2018 when I-295 in Delaware and New Jersey was extended into Pennsylvania. It is the longest beltway with an Interstate highway designation in the United States, enclosing an area of over 250,000 acres (100,000 ha). It is also the third longest beltway overall in the United States—only the Sam Houston Tollway and the Grand Parkway encircling Greater Houston are longer. For a short distance in northwest Hamilton County, it overlaps with I-74 and US Route 52 (US 52).
Kentucky Route 9 is a 116.285-mile-long (187.143 km) state highway maintained by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) in the U.S. state of Kentucky. The highway extends from Grayson to Newport, roughly paralleling the Ohio River between Vanceburg and Newport.
Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway, formerly and locally known as Cross County Highway, is a west-east freeway in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. It stretches 16.4 miles (26.4 km) from southern Colerain Township to Montgomery, connecting many of Cincinnati's northern suburbs to Interstate 71 and Interstate 75. State Route 126 is routed over most of the highway, while the remainder is a county-maintained road.
Hebron is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Boone County, Kentucky, United States. It is named after the biblical city of Hebron. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 6,195. The wider Hebron area is home to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, which serves Cincinnati and the Tri-State (Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana) area.
Kentucky Route 8 is a 114.202-mile-long (183.790 km) east–west state highway divided into two distinct segments across northern Kentucky. The western terminus of the route is at KY 237 near Francisville. The eastern terminus is at U.S. Route 23 in South Portsmouth. The two distinct segments of this route were not meant to be connected together. KY 8 from its west end in Boone County to Augusta in Bracken County is designated as a part of an identified corridor for bikes named the Ramblin' River Tour by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).
The AA Highway is a 135.665-mile-long (218.332 km) state highway maintained by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) in the U.S. state of Kentucky. The mainline route parallels the Ohio River from Interstate 275 (I-275) in Wilder to Vanceburg; it is cosigned as Kentucky Route (KY 9). From Vanceburg, the highway splits into two routes, with the southern spur using the KY 9 designation and continuing to Grayson and I-64, and the eastern spur using the designation of KY 10 and continuing to Greenup. The AA is mostly a two-lane rural highway that provides the only direct connection between Ashland and Northern Kentucky, which includes Cincinnati.
Interstate 75 (I-75) runs from near Williamsburg to Covington by way of Lexington in the US state of Kentucky. I-75 enters the Cumberland Plateau region from Tennessee, then descends into the Bluegrass region through the Pottsville Escarpment before crossing the Ohio River into Ohio. I-75 follows along the U.S. Route 25 (US 25) corridor for the entire length of Kentucky.
Kentucky Route 237 is a 14.872-mile-long (23.934 km) state highway in Boone County, Kentucky, connecting the Florence/Burlington area with Hebron. The southern terminus of the route is at KY 536 in Florence. The northern terminus is at KY 8 near Hebron. Most of the land surrounding KY 237 is residential.
Kentucky Route 236 is a state highway in Boone and Kenton Counties in Northern Kentucky. The southern terminus is at KY 1303 in Edgewood. The northern terminus is at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport near Hebron, where it meets KY 212.
Kentucky Route 212 is a short state highway located in Boone County, in the northern region of the U.S. state of Kentucky. The highway is approximately 1.3 miles (2.1 km) long, and partially constructed as a freeway, with the rest being a divided highway. The roadway links Interstate 275 (I-275) to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, and has been designated as a connector route by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). A road first appeared near the location of KY 212 around 1937. A short road was built in the location of KY 212 when the U.S. Army Air Corps built the predecessor to the CVG Airport. The road was reconstructed to a divided highway in 1972, but was part of KY 1334 until 1974 or later, when KY 212 was designated, and KY 1334 was rerouted via Loomis Road and Whitson Drive to end at KY 20.
Kentucky Route 18, also known as Burlington Pike, is a state highway that serves as a major road through Florence and Burlington in the U.S. state of Kentucky. The western terminus of the route is at KY 338 in Rabbit Hash. The eastern terminus is at KY 1017 in Florence.
Kentucky Route 17 (KY 17) is a 34.660-mile-long (55.780 km) state highway in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It connects U.S. Route 27 in rural Pendleton County to the Ohio state line in Covington.
Transportation in Cincinnati includes sidewalks, roads, public transit, bicycle paths, and regional and international airports. Most trips are made by car, with transit and bicycles having a relatively low share of total trips; in a region of just over 2 million people, less than 80,000 trips are made with transit on an average day. The city is sliced by three major interstate highways, I-71, I-74 and I-75, and circled by a beltway several miles out from the city limits. The region is served by two separate transit systems, one on each side of the river. SORTA, on the Ohio side is about six times larger than TANK on the Kentucky side.

The route runs between KY 18 and Oakbrook Drive southeast of Limaburg and east-southeast of Burlington, to U.S. Route 25 (US 25), US 42, and US 127 in northern Florence. The route principally connects the recent commercial developments of northern Florence south of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, as well as Turfway Park and northbound Interstate 71 (I-71) and I-75.
