Advance is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Davie County, North Carolina, United States. It is seventy-five miles northeast of Charlotte. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 1,138. It is located along North Carolina Highway 801 just south of Bermuda Run. Advance is part of the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina.
Samuel Sloan was a Philadelphia-based architect and best-selling author of architecture books in the mid-19th century. He specialized in Italianate villas and country houses, churches, and institutional buildings. His most famous building—the octagonal mansion "Longwood" in Natchez, Mississippi—is unfinished; construction was abandoned during the American Civil War.
McBee Methodist Church, also known as McBee Chapel, is an octagonal, brick, United Methodist church building on Main Street in Conestee, Greenville County, South Carolina. Built in 1856, it was designed by millwright John Adams and named for Vardry McBee (1775–1864), the "Father of Greenville," whose son donated the money to build it. The church was built with a balcony used by slaves. When the balcony was removed sometime following the Civil War, its separate door, to the left of the main entrance, was converted into another window.
Centenary Methodist Church is a historic Methodist church located at New Bern, Craven County, North Carolina. It was built in 1904–1905, and is an irregularly shaped, brick multiple-use church complex. The front facade includes an entrance five-bay arcade beneath a low conical roof flanked by square corner towers of unequal height. Nowadays the building belongs to The United Methodist Church.

The Mount Zion United Methodist Church is a historic Methodist church located near Crabtree, Haywood County, North Carolina. It was built in 1883, and is a three bay by four bay rectangular gable front brick church. The church has been altered significantly during three separate rehabilitation projects undertaken since 1950. It is probably the oldest church building remaining in Haywood County.
Carver's Creek Methodist Church, also known as Carver's Creek United Methodist Church, is a historic Methodist church located near Council, Bladen County, North Carolina. It was built in 1859, and is a frame Greek Revival-style church with a pedimented front portico, and a two-story rear addition. It measures 40 feet across and 60 feet deep.

Mount Carmel A.M.E. Zion Church & Campground is a historic African Methodist Episcopal Zion camp meeting grounds in Heath Springs, South Carolina, Lancaster County, South Carolina. It was established in 1866 and consists of a complex of approximately 55 small "cabins" or "tents" and the brick church of Mt. Carmel A.M.E. Zion Church is located in the general form of a rectangle. Mount Carmel A.M.E Zion Church Campmeeting starts every year on the first Wednesday in September, and last for 4–5 days. An "arbor," or open-air structure, is located in the center of the complex, where music, gospel singing, praise and worship, preaching and teachings are held. People come to worship, fellowship, network, and eat food from as far as New York City, NY to Orlando, FL. There is also a section on the grounds for vendors. The majority of the cabins are small frame, some are two story cabins for larger families made from concrete block and wooden structures. Also on the property is the church cemetery.
The Camp Methodist Church is a historic Methodist church on Arkansas Highway 9 in Camp, Arkansas. The church was built in 1878 to serve the Camp Methodist Congregation; it was constructed by local carpenters in a vernacular style with Gothic Revival features. A school operated in the church building until 1914. In the 1980s, church services were briefly cancelled due to the shrinking congregation; former church members rehabilitated the church in 1983, after which services began again. The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 9, 1997.
Asbury Methodist Church, also known as Asbury Memorial Church and Asbury Methodist Episcopal Church South, is a historic Methodist church located at Raynham, Robeson County, North Carolina. It was built in 1861, and is a one-story, timber-frame building in a modest Greek Revival style. It measures approximately 40 feet by 50 feet and features a prominent, projecting, pedimented front gable supported by five posts. Adjacent to the church is the contributing cemetery with approximately 200 marked graves. The oldest grave dates to 1848.

The district encompasses 44 contributing buildings in the central business district and surrounding residential section of Danbury. They were built between about 1860 and 1930 and include notable examples of Queen Anne, Romanesque Revival, and Bungalow architecture. Located in the district and separately listed is the Stokes County Courthouse.
