Geeta Basra Singh (born 13 March 1984) is a British former actress who has appeared in Bollywood films. [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] She is married to Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh. They married at a ceremony in a gurudwara near Jalandhar. [11] [12] She has spoken of how she was written off as a married woman, even when she and Harbhajan Singh were just friends. [13] Post her marriage to Singh, she quit cinema.
Basra was born to Indian Punjabi Sikh parents in Portsmouth, Hampshire on the south coast of England, [2] but now resides in Mumbai, India. She has one younger brother, Rahul and sister Ruby. [14]
She studied acting at the Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Institute. [2] [15]
She was first seen in the Emraan Hashmi-starrer Dil Diya Hai in 2006 in which she played a girl who is sold into prostitution by her lover. Her second release, The Train (2007), was also opposite Hashmi. She played Roma, a working woman who gets caught up in an extramarital affair.
Basra was also seen in the music video for the Sukshinder Shinda and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan song "Ghum Sum Ghum Sum", playing the love interest of the male protagonist played by Rahul Bhat.
Basra married Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh on 29 October 2015 in Jalandhar, Punjab. [16] [17] They have a daughter, Hinaya Heer Plaha, born on 27 July 2016 in Portsmouth, Hampshire. [18] and a son, Jovan Veer Singh Plaha, born on 10 July 2021. [19] [20]

Murder is a 2004 Indian Hindi-language erotic thriller film, directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Mukesh Bhatt. It is the first installment in the Murder film series. Based on the 2002 American film Unfaithful, which was itself inspired by the 1969 French film The Unfaithful Wife, it stars Emraan Hashmi, Ashmit Patel and Mallika Sherawat and is set in Bangkok, Thailand.

The film stars Emraan Hashmi, Geeta Basra and debutant Sayali Bhagat in the lead roles, and tells the story of a married couple caught up in a complex emotional tangle revolving around an extramarital affair. It is a remake of the 2005 American film Derailed, an adaptation of James Siegel's 2003 novel Derailed. It was a box office disappointment.
