Gen1es is a multi-national girl group based in Thailand under Ryce Entertainment. They were formed through the 2024 reality show Chuang Asia: Thailand on WeTV. The group consists of nine members: Pailiu, Wang Ke, Xueyao, Qiao Yiyu, Elyn, Yean, Ruan, Didi and Emma. They are set to debut in 2024, [2] and will be active for three years. [3]

History

Pre-debut: Chuang Asia: Thailand and "Lucky Bell"

In July 2023, Tencent announced Chuang Asia: Thailand, the first international entry to the Chuang franchise originally based in China, which will take place in Thailand. The show brought together seventy female trainees to form a nine-member girl group. It aired from February 3, 2024, to April 6, 2024. During the final episode, the group was formed and performed the song "Lucky Bell". [4] "Lucky Bell" was later released as the group's pre-debut single on April 26. [5]

Prior to Chuang Asia: Thailand, Xueyao competed on Chuang 2020 (2020), the third season of the Chuang franchise. Ruan and Wang Ke also competed on the South Korean idol reality shows Girls Planet 999 (2021) and Produce 48 (2018) respectively. [6] Qiao Yiyu gained some recognition in China for competing in the reality shows Great Dance Crew (2022) and Youth π Plan (2023). Pailiu is a Thai-Vietnamese model under Miss Grand Thailand and was the fifth runner-up in the 2023 pageant. [7] Yean debuted as a soloist in 2020 under Khaosan Entertainment, and Elyn was a child actress who appeared in the Malaysian drama Geng UPSR (2015–2016).

2024–present: Debut activities

Preparation for the group's debut with their first extended play began in May 2024. [8]

Chittaphon Leechaiyapornkul, known professionally as Ten, is a Thai singer and dancer based in South Korea and China. He debuted with South Korean boy band NCT in 2016 as part of its first sub-unit, NCT U. Since 2019, he has been active mainly as a member of NCT's China-based unit WayV and the South Korean supergroup SuperM. Ten has also released several solo singles through the SM Station project: "Dream in a Dream" (2017), "New Heroes" (2018), "Paint Me Naked" (2021) and "Birthday" (2022). He made his solo debut in February 2024 with his eponymous extended play.

<i>Produce 48</i> South Korean reality competition series

Produce 48 is the third season of the South Korean reality competition series Produce 101. It was a large-scale project in which the public "produces" a girl group by voting for members out of a pool of 96 contestants from South Korea and Japan, as well as voting for the group's concept, name and debut single. The show was a collaboration between the Mnet series Produce 101 and the J-pop idol group AKB48. The winning 12 contestants, with no nationality caps, as voted only by Korean viewers, would promote as a group for two years and six months. The program itself is primarily in Korean, however staff and trainer instructions were translated onsite by interpreters. The show announced the final 12 members who made it into, as well as the official name of the group Iz*One during the finale on August 31, 2018.

Produce 101 is a reality television talent competition franchise created by South Korean entertainment conglomerate CJ E&M, based around the formation of a K-pop girl group or boy group. The format is noted for having no panel of judges, employing audience participation to make decisions, as well as for starting with a very large number of competitors, 101, narrowing that number down to the final 11. The franchise began in 2016 and has since expanded to other Asian countries, China and Japan.

Anatchaya Suputhipong, known professionally as Natty, is a Thai singer based in South Korea. She is best known as a contestant on Mnet's girl group survival programs Sixteen (2015) and Idol School (2017). She debuted as a soloist on May 7, 2020, with the release of her solo single album Nineteen. She later debuted as a member of the South Korean girl group Kiss of Life on July 5, 2023.

Produce Camp 2020, officially known as CHUANG 2020, is a Chinese girl group reality competition show, which premiered on Tencent Video on May 2, 2020 as the third season of Produce 101 China. It is also the only edition in the series to only have 7 winning contestants, instead of the usual 11. On July 4, 2020, the final seven contestants debuted as BonBon Girls 303 (硬糖少女303).

BonBon Girls 303 was a Chinese girl group formed through the 2020 reality show Produce Camp 2020 on Tencent Video and managed by Wajijiwa Entertainment. The group consisted of seven members: Curley Gao, Zhao Yue, Wang Yijin, Chen Zhuoxuan, Nene/Zheng Naixin, Sally/Liu Xiening, and Zhang Yifan.

It premiered on August 6, 2021 and was originally broadcast every Friday at 8:20 PM KST for the first eleven episodes until its finale on October 22, which was broadcast live at 8 PM KST. Jackrin Kungwankiatichai ; also known by his nickname Jackie, is a Thai singer, actor, brand endorser and model. He was a member of the Thai boy group Nine by Nine, and is currently a member of TRINITY. He is the grand champion of the Thai singing competition The Mask Thai Literature.

Yongsin Wongpanitnont, also known as Yorch, is a Thai actor, singer and model. He is best known for his role as Wanchaloem in Thong Nuea Kao (2013). Yorch made his debut as a solo artist with the single "Seven" on April 11, 2023. He is a member of the South Korean boy band POW.

CSR is a South Korean girl group formed and managed by A2Z Entertainment.
