Ghea Indrawari (born 10 March 1998) is an Indonesian singer-songwriter and actress . [2] Ghea is in the top five in the singing talent search event, the ninth season of Indonesian Idol which was broadcast on RCTI in 2018. [3] After graduating from Indonesian Idol, she joined the Hits Records recording company and released her first, single entitled "Rinduku" on August 31, 2018. [4] [5]
Ghea had a musical breakthrough after releasing her eleventh single, "Jiwa yang Bersedih" in 2023, which managed to top the weekly Indonesia Songs chart compiled by Billboard for 4 consecutive weeks. [6] [7]
Ghea Indrawari was born on March 10, 1998, in Singkawang, West Kalimantan. Ghea is the eldest of two siblings. His mother's name is Endang Winarni. He has a younger brother named Rezza Rahmawan who is 11 years. [8]
Her parents separated when Ghea was in elementary school. [9] Since childhood, he lived with his sister and mother on Jalan Kacang, Gang Melur II, RT 10 RW 4 Kelurahan Jawa, Kecamatan Singkawang Tengah, Singkawang. [8] Ghea grew up in a Muslim family.
Ghea singing talent is a talent inherited from her grandparents. [10] Ghea has loved singing since she was little, from the age of two, she was able to participate in karaoke. At that age, Ghea was already clever and memorized the notes of a song. However, he never honed his musical talent by taking music lessons, he only studied vocals self-taught. Her mother actually enrolled Ghea in swimming lessons because she preferred that Ghea study sports. Her mother considered Ghea's singing talent to be just a hobby, besides that, according to her, when she was in elementary school, Ghea singing talent was not very visible. [11]
When she entered high school, her music teacher saw that Ghea had great talent in music. Finally, he was directed directly by his high school music teacher, Dedy Ridiansyah, to deepen his musical talent. Ghea was given various materials about music and invited to practice directly in the field by singing at weddings and coffee shops. Ghea began to be trained in the art of music professionally, starting from block notation, singing techniques to playing musical instruments. [12]

In 2016, Ghea took part in the second season of the singing talent search event Rising Star Indonesia which aired on the television station RCTI. In the audition round he performed the song "Cheap Trills" popularized by Sia and managed to get 4 yeses from the judges and passed to the next round. In the "Live Audition" round, Ghea performed the song "Lush Life" which was popularized by Zara Larsson and got a voting percentage of 60% which resulted in her being eliminated because the voting percentage was less than 70%. In 2018, Ghea took part in the ninth season of the Indonesian Idol talent search event . In the audition round, Ghea performed the song "Issues" which was popularized by Julia Michaels and managed to get a golden ticket and advance to the next round. [16]
After passing the audition stage and going through the competition process, Ghea was eliminated on March 19, 2018, in the top 5 round. After graduating from Indonesian Idol, Ghea released her debut single entitled "Rinduku" on August 31, 2018. [18] Ghea took part in writing the song lyrics with Febrian Nindyo and Ezra Mandira which was done in just a few hours. The lyrics are combined with typical music from the 80s and 90s. In terms of music, Ghea said it was adapted to her slightly hoarse vocal character. [19] The song "Rinduku" was inspired by Ghea personal experience, who often felt homesick for the stories of the people around her. [5]
In conjunction with the release of her debut single's music video, Ghea also released a web series with the "sama title with 3 episodes on her personal YouTube channel. This web series is Ghea acting debut. In this web series, Ghea plays the main character playing the character Rindu opposite Glenn Samuel and Diza Refengga. [20] [21]
After releasing ten singles throughout her musical career, Ghea released her eleventh single entitled "Jiwa yang Bersedih" on May 19, 2023, but carries a different concept from her previous songs. In terms of lyric writing, "Jiwa yang Bersedih" tells about a person's journey through life who is experiencing the lowest phase, different from previous singles which had a romance theme. In terms of musical arrangement, Ghea made a big change where he usually uses a sequencer, but in this song it is dominated by acoustic guitar. [22]
On August 14, 2023, "Jiwa yang Bersedih" topped the Top Songs on the Music Chart Spotify Indonesia (National) with more than 38 million plays. [23] Followed by topping the weekly Indonesia Songs chart compiled by Billboard on August 19, 2023. [24] In early September 2023, "Jiwa Yang Bersedih" accumulated more than 50 million plays on Spotify–making it Ghea first song to reach that. [25]
