Gobiobotia cheni is a species of small freshwater fish in the family Cyprinidae. It is endemic to Taiwan.

Named in honor of vertebrate zoologist Jianshen (“Johnson”) T. F. Chen (1898-1988), Director, National Taiwan Museum (Taipei), who provided type specimens. [1]

Enneapterygius cheni is a species of threefin blenny in the genus Enneapterygius. It was described by S.C. Wang, K.T. Shao, and S.C. Shen in 1996. It is a subtropical blenny found in the northwestern Pacific Ocean, and swims at depths ranging from 0–12 metres. It has been described from Taiwan and the Ryukyu Islands. Male E. cheni can reach a maximum length of 2.4 centimetres. The specific name honours the person who collected the type, Jeng-Ping Chen of the Taiwan Ocean Research Institute.

Aphyocypris moltrechti, Moltrecht's minnow, is a species of cyprinid fish endemic to Taiwan. It was formerly considered to be the only species in the genus Pararasbora. The Endemic Species Research Institute under the Council of Agriculture of the Executive Yuan in Taiwan has enlisted Aphyocypris moltrechti as “precious and rare species” among other endemic freshwater species.

Sebastes cheni, the Japanese white seaperch or Japanese blueback seaperch, is a species of marine ray-finned fish belonging to the subfamily Sebastinae, the rockfishes, part of the family Scorpaenidae. It is found in the Northwest Pacific. The species is a popular quarry for anglers. White seaperch is fished for food and game fishing. In Japan this species is known as Mebaru(メバル/鮴).

He headed the Laboratory of Oceanic Ichthyofauna at the RAS Institute of Oceanology in Moscow, where he ended his career as a Professor after more than fifty-seven years. In his career, he described more than 150 new taxa of fish and participated in 20 major oceanic expeditions. Thirty-six species of fish are named in his honour.

Sillago shaoi is a species of marine fish in the smelt-whiting family Sillaginidae. It is found in the western Pacific Ocean, in the Taiwan Strait between Taiwan and China.
