The Grand Rapids Dragonfish were a men's senior semi-professional box lacrosse team in the Continental Indoor Lacrosse League. They played at the Eagles Ice Center in Grand Rapids. Grand Rapids won the 2011 CILL championship, becoming the league's first champion. The Dragonfish were original members of the CILL having played since the inaugural 2011 season.
Grand Rapids played in the first ever game in MILA history, where they defeated Columbus 18-17 [1] in overtime. The Dragonfish would go on to defeat the Chicago Outlaws in the championship on October 1, 2011, with a final score of 13–7.
A second Michigan-based team, the Detroit Coney Dogs, joined the MILA bringing the number of teams in Michigan to two. The Dragonfish fared well in the regular season as well in the playoffs. They appeared in the 2012 championship, but lost to the Colorado Sabertooths by a final score of 13–6.
The Dragonfish finished with a regular season record of 3–2. [2] Grand Rapids made it to the semifinals, losing to Chicago 10–9 in overtime. Grand Rapids went on to play in the Third Place game where they defeated Pittsburgh 9–0. In that game veteran player Russ King (also the commissioner of the CILL) scored what he said was his last CILL goal. [3] King commented after saying, “This was my last competitive game for the Fish; I want to work on growing the CILL and making it better year-after-year and spreading box lacrosse in the U.S.”
In 2014 the Lansing Hot Rods joined the CILL, bringing the number of Michigan teams up to three. In this season the Dragonfish played seven games and finished with a 6–1 record. [4] The Dragonfish made it to the CILL championship, but were defeated by the Chicago Outlaws by a score of 20–13. [5]

The Chesapeake Bayhawks were a Major League Lacrosse (MLL) professional men's field lacrosse team based in Annapolis, Maryland. The Denver Outlaws are a professional men's field lacrosse team in the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) based in Denver, Colorado. They began playing in Major League Lacrosse in 2006 as an expansion team. When MLL merged with the PLL before the 2021 season, the Outlaws were not absorbed by the PLL, but later entered the PLL when Chrome Lacrosse Club was rebranded as the Outlaws when the PLL assigned home cities on November 14, 2023.

Jeremy Ogden, AKA Chewy, Tank, Wolfman, Congo, Pillsbury, and Dough Boy was a goaltender for the Colorado Mammoth in the National Lacrosse League and started for the Colorado Sabertooths National Championship teams in 2012 and 2013. He played college lacrosse for Colorado State University from 1993 to 1995. In 2006, he was named to the United States indoor Lacrosse Team to compete in the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship in 2007 but did not see any action in the Bronze Medal campaign. A year later in the 2008/2009 National Lacrosse League season he was signed by the Colorado Mammoth as a goalie. As a member of the Mammoth, he saw minimal action in one game in his home town of Philadelphia. During an exhibition season in 2009, the Colorado Sabertooths lacrosse team competed in the Freedom Cup sponsored by USA Indoor Lacrosse in Philadelphia, PA. After defeating all of the other regional and state teams they lost to Team USA's entry to the tournament, finishing as National Runners-Up in their inaugural year.
The Davenport Panthers are the athletic teams that represent Davenport University, located in Caledonia Township, Michigan, in intercollegiate sports as a member of the NCAA Division II level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), primarily competing in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) for most of its sports as a provisional member since the 2017–18 academic year. The Interstate Box Lacrosse Association (IBLA) was a men's senior box lacrosse league based in the United States. From 2019 to 2021, the IBLA served as an official partner of the National Lacrosse League (NLL), operating as a developmental funnel. The league was founded in 2017 to unite regional senior leagues into a system similar to the Canadian Lacrosse Association structure of men's Senior A and Senior B box lacrosse teams. As of 2021 there are 52 total teams playing in 17 regional leagues. The Seneca Marksmen are the most recent IBLA champions, defeating the Grand Rapids Grizzlies in Lakeland, Florida on September 19, 2021.
