The musical follows ten working-class teenagers as they navigate the complexities of peer pressure, politics, personal core values, and love.

Trainer looked back to the original 1978 film and its soundtrack as an inspiration to produce the album and described it as a contemporary take but still capturing the nostalgia and harmonies from the 1950s.
