HD 231701 is a yellow-white hued star in the northern constellation of Sagitta, near the southern constellation border with Aquila. With an apparent visual magnitude of 8.97, [2] it is too dim to be viewed with the naked eye, but can be seen with powerful binoculars or a small telescope. Parallax measurements provide a distance estimate of approximately 356  light years from the Sun, but it is drifting closer with a radial velocity of −63 km/s. [1] It is predicted to come as close as 189.5 light-years in 1.345 million years. [2]

HD 231701 is named Uruk. The name was selected in the NameExoWorlds campaign by Iraq, during the 100th anniversary of the IAU. Uruk was an ancient city of the Sumer and Babylonian civilizations in Mesopotamia. [8] [9]

This object is an ordinary F-type main-sequence star with a stellar classification of F8 V. [2] It is around three [3] to 4.5 billion years old and may be evolving onto the subgiant branch. [6] It is spinning with a projected rotational velocity of 4 km/s [4] and has low chromospheric activity. [6] HD 231701 has 1.2 [3] times the mass of the Sun and 1.45 [1] times the Sun's radius. It is radiating 2.6 times the luminosity of the Sun from its photosphere at an effective temperature of 6,081 K. [1]

In 2007, the N2K Consortium used the radial velocity technique to discover a Jupiter-like planet orbiting at a distance of 0.57  AU from the star with a period of 141.6 days. [6]

HD 40979 is a triple star system in the northern constellation of Auriga. The combined brightness of this group lies below the typical limit of visibility to the naked eye at an apparent visual magnitude of 6.74. HD 224693, also named Axólotl, is a star in the equatorial constellation of Cetus, and is positioned near the western constellation border with Aquarius. Based on parallax measurements, the object is located at a distance of approximately 306 light years from the Sun. It is drifting further away with a radial velocity of 1.5 km/s.

HD 175541 is an 8th magnitude star with an exoplanetary companion in the constellation Serpens. It has the proper name Kaveh, which was selected by Iran during the NameExoWorlds campaign as part of the 100th anniversary of the IAU. Kaveh is one of the heroes of Shahnameh. The apparent visual magnitude of 8.02 is too faint for this star to be visible in the naked eye. It is located at a distance of approximately 424 light years from the Sun based on parallax measurements, and is drifting further away with a radial velocity of +20 km/s. HD 81040 is a star in the equatorial constellation of Leo. With an apparent visual magnitude of +7.73 it is too dim to be visible to the naked eye but can be viewed with a small telescope. The star is located at a distance of 112 light years from the Sun based on parallax. It is drifting further away with a radial velocity of +49 km/s, having come to within 48 light-years some 527,000 years ago.

HD 17156, named Nushagak by the IAU, is a yellow subgiant star approximately 255 light-years away in the constellation of Cassiopeia. The system is located at a distance of 239 light years from the Sun based on parallax measurements, but is drifting closer with a radial velocity of −33 km/s.

HD 212771, also named Lionrock, is a solitary star in the southern zodiac constellation Aquarius. It has an apparent magnitude of 7.60, making it readily visible with binoculars but not the naked eye. Parallax measurements place the object at a distance of 364 light years, and is currently receding with a radial velocity of 15 km/s.

It is a K-type giant star with an apparent magnitude of 6.249, which, according to the Bortle scale, makes it faintly visible to the naked eye from dark rural skies. This star is spinning slowly with a projected rotational velocity of 1.77 km/s.
