Habib Zargarpour (born 9 March 1964) is an Iranian visual effects supervisor, computer graphics supervisor, art director and creative director.
Zargarpour worked on the films Twister (1996) and The Perfect Storm (2000), for which he was nominated for two Academy Awards and won two BAFTA Awards. As of now, he is the only Asian to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.[ citation needed ]
Habib Zargarpour has had almost two decades of experience in visual effect for film. He had worked as a graphic artist and fine arts illustrator since 1981, and began his career in visual effects for film in 1990 when he spent a few years working on digital effects for IMAX films in Los Angeles. He graduated with distinction in Industrial Design from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena [1] in 1992 and discovered his passion for design in film.
He spent 9 years at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) where he first joined the team of The Mask in 1993 as a Technical Director. Subsequent projects included the development of such effects as the particle tornadoes in Twister , the digital oceans and stormy seas in The Perfect Storm, Spawn ’s cape, and the pod race simulations and crashes in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace . While at ILM, he was nominated for two Academy Awards in Visual Effects for Twister and The Perfect Storm and garnered two British Academy Awards for those films working with Visual effects supervisor Stefen Fangmeier. He worked as a Digital Effects Supervisor with John Knoll on the pod race sequences in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace and on two Star Trek films: Star Trek Generations and Star Trek: First Contact , working on the never before seen space anomalies and the Phoenix rocket launch sequence. Other creative projects at ILM included all digital underwater shots of Matt Damon in The Bourne Identity , and the alien creatures in Signs .
Zargarpour continues to value the CG industry as the perfect mix of technical and artistic realms. Since 2003, Habib has worked as a Senior Art Director at Electronic Arts on driving and racing titles. His projects included Need for Speed: Underground and James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing. In 2006, he Art Directed a next generation title called Need for Speed: Most Wanted for which he received a VES (Visual Effects Society) Award in 2006. In 2009, he served as an official festival judge for the Noor Iranian Film Festival in Los Angeles.
As of May 2010 [update] , Zargarpour is a creative director of Microsoft Game Studios. He was the consulting Art Director for the Xbox One Launch title Ryse: Son of Rome collaborating with the Crytek team in Frankfurt. In 2014 he became Director of Visuals for Microsoft Studios Global Publishing.
Zargarpour is an active member of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), and a founding member of the Visual Effects Society (VES).
Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) is an American motion picture visual effects company and computer animation studio that was founded on May 26, 1975 by George Lucas. It is a division of the film production company Lucasfilm, which Lucas founded, and was created when he began production on the original Star Wars, now the fourth episode of the Skywalker Saga.
John Knoll is an American visual effects supervisor and chief creative officer (CCO) at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM). One of the original creators of Adobe Photoshop, he has also worked as visual effects supervisor on the Star Wars prequels and the 1997 special editions of the original trilogy. He also served as ILM's visual effects supervisor for Star Trek Generations and Star Trek: First Contact, as well as the Pirates of the Caribbean series. Along with Hal Hickel, Charles Gibson and Allen Hall, Knoll and the trio's work on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest earned them the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
John Charles Dykstra, A.S.C. is an American special effects artist, pioneer in the development of the use of computers in filmmaking and recipient of three Academy Awards, among many other awards and prizes. He was one of the original employees of Industrial Light & Magic, the special effects and computer graphics division of Lucasfilm. He is well known as the special effects lead on the original Star Wars, helping bring the original visuals for lightsabers, space battles between X-wings and TIE fighters, and Force powers to the screen. He also led special effects on many other movies, including Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, Stuart Little, X-Men: First Class, Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2.

Dennis Muren, A.S.C is an American film visual effects artist and supervisor. He has worked on the films of George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and James Cameron, among others, and has won nine Oscars in total: eight for Best Visual Effects and a Technical Achievement Academy Award. The Visual Effects Society has called him "a perpetual student, teacher, innovator, and mentor."

Kenneth Ralston is an American visual effects artist, currently the Visual Effect Supervisor and Creative Head at Sony Pictures Imageworks. Ralston began his career at the commercial animation and visual effects company, Cascade Pictures in Hollywood, where he worked on over 150 advertising campaigns in the early 1970s. In 1976, he was hired at Industrial Light & Magic by Dennis Muren to help George Lucas create the effects for Star Wars. He remained at ILM for 20 years before joining Sony Pictures Imageworks as president. Ralston is best known for his work in the films of Robert Zemeckis.

Joseph Bruce Letteri is a senior visual effects artist, winner of five Academy Awards, four BAFTA awards and four VES awards. He is the current Senior Visual Effects Supervisor of the Academy Award-winning Wētā FX having joined the company in 2001. He has received several awards and nominations as visual effects supervisor, the latest being Avatar: The Way of Water, and previously for War for the Planet of the Apes. He attended Center High School (Pennsylvania) in 1975 and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1981. Scott Squires is an American visual effects supervisor and director. His first film project was Close Encounters of the Third Kind, where he developed the Cloud Tank Effect. In 1979 Squires, Hoyt Yeatman, Rocco Gioffre, Fred Iguchi, Tom Hollister and Bob Hollister co-founded Dream Quest Images, a visual effects house, which was later purchased by Disney. Squires was president of Dream Quest and left in 1985 to work for Industrial Light and Magic. Squires worked as visual effects supervisor and commercial director at ILM for 20 years and is now a freelance director and visual effects supervisor.
Roger Guyett is an English visual effects supervisor and second unit director. Guyett and his fellow visual effects artists were nominated for an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects for the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
