Happy Channel is a television channel, which is based in Bucharest, Romania. Launched on 15 January 2006, it is a part of the Intact group, formerly owned by the businessman and politician Dan Voiculescu.

Contents

The television channel is dedicated to women and their families, being in direct competition with the Acasă TV channel.

Telesport was the first Romanian sports channel launched on 1 December 2003, by Silviu Prigoană, the man behind Taraf TV and Etno TV. On March 28 2008, Realitatea-Caţavencu Group bought the station and brought a new team to manage the channel, a team led by Vlad Enăchescu, former manager at TVR1. In 2010, Romtelecom attempted to buy the channel, but failed. In return, Romtelecom signed contracts with the majority of Telesport team, including Vlad Enăchescu, all of them founding Dolce Sport.

Carmen Tanase is a Romanian actress. After graduating The Drama and Film Institute from Bucharest, in 1984, she joined the company of "Vasile Alecsandri" National Theatre in Iaşi and then moved back to the capital city of Romania. Since 1990, she is a member of the Odeon Theatre company from Bucharest. As a student, she played in Dostoevsky's The Possessed, in John Steinbeck's Sweet Thursday, in Butterflies, Butterflies by the Italian playwright Aldo Nicolaj etc. Following the fall of the Romanian communist regime, in 1989, she also involved herself in the independent artistic movements that flourished after these events. She toured the world with Radu Duda, the two of them playing in A Report to an Academy, the adaptation of a short story by Franz Kafka, directed by Cristina Iovita.

Romania participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 in Belgrade, Serbia. They selected their entry, "Pe-o margine de lume", by Romanian singers Nico and Vlad through the national selection competition Selecția Națională 2008 in February 2008. Controversy surrounded the event, as the organising broadcaster, Romanian Television (TVR), was accused of conspiracy, and the song reviewed for plagiarism. Prior to the 2008 contest, Romania had participated in the Eurovision Song Contest ten times since its first entry in 1994. Its highest placing in the contest had been third place, which the nation achieved in 2005. In 2007, Romania finished in 13th place.

Orient Express is a 2004 Romanian film directed by Sergiu Nicolaescu. It was Romania's submission to the 77th Academy Awards for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, but was not accepted as a nominee.

Sand Cliffs is a Romanian motion picture drama released in 1983 and banned four days after its première by the regime of Nicolae Ceaușescu. The film, adapted from the novel Zile de Nisip by Bujor Nedelcovici, was directed by Dan Pița, with dialogue and script by Bujor Nedelcovici and Dan Pița, cinematography by Vlad Păunescu, and a sound track composed by Adrian Enescu. Cast included Victor Rebengiuc, Marin Moraru, Gheorghe Visu, and Carmen Galin. Faleze de Nisip was screened in 1991 at the Berlin International Film Festival, in 1994 at Los Angeles, and was one of the three Romanian films to be shown in 2007 at the European Film Festival in Lima, Peru.

Vlad Irimia, primarily known by his stage name Tata Vlad, formerly Tataee, is a Romanian record producer, rapper, record executive, and music manager. He is one of the founders of the influential Romanian hip hop trio B.U.G. Mafia, also having produced albums and overseeing the careers of many acclaimed Romanian hip hop artists, such as La Familia, XXL & 10 Grei, Mahsat and JerryCo. As a music producer, he is frequently credited as one of the pioneers and key figures in the architecture of the Romanian version of gangsta rap, a style of music that closely resembles its American counterpart but also includes various local influences derived from balkan music or, more recently, electronica.

Vocea României is a Romanian reality singing competition broadcast on PRO TV. Based on the original The Voice of Holland, the concept of the series is to find new singing talent contested by aspiring singers, age 16 or over, drawn from public auditions. The winner is determined by television viewers voting by telephone and he is entitled to a €100,000 prize and a record deal with Universal Records for winning the competition. There have been eleven winners of the show to date: Ștefan Stan, Julie Mayaya, Mihai Chițu, Tiberiu Albu, Cristina Bălan, Teodora Buciu, Ana Munteanu, Bogdan Ioan, Dragoș Moldovan, Iulian Nunucă, and Alexandra Căpitănescu.
