Harcos LLC (Harcos Laboratories) are the makers of caffeinated novelty energy supplements and consumables. Harcos Laboratories operates out of Santa Monica, California.

Company history

Harcos Laboratories was formed in 2007 by Aaron Rasmussen and Elijah Szasz, both co-workers in the industrial robotics industry. [1]

In January 2008, Mana Energy Potions was released. The product itself is packaged in a bottle similar to those seen in video games. [2] After gaining attention on national television, internet geek blogs, and news sites, [3] Mana Energy Potion started being sold in retailers around the United States.

In January 2009, Health Energy Potion was released. Much like Mana, Health retains its virtual-counterpart look with the color and bottle shape found in video games. [4]

In October 2009, Harcos began distributing Blood Energy Potion. [5] The energy supplement in an IV bag pouch contains a caffeinated liquid with a similar color (deep red), consistency and nutritional profile of blood by packing iron, protein, enzymes and electrolytes into a fruit punch supplement. This product is targeted toward horror and vampire culture fans. [6]

Additional products include Nuclear Energy Powder, Zombie Blood, [7] Love Energy Potion, [8] Luck Energy Potion, and Zombie Jerky. [9]

Culture

Harcos Labs targets consumers around the United States as well as gamers and fans of popular culture. Harcos Labs has appeared at Comic-Con, PAX, Anime Expo, and many other conventions nationwide since 2008.

Mana Energy Potions have been featured in the video games ARCA Sim Racing, [10] BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, [11] and Mystic Emporium.

Buckfast Tonic Wine is a caffeinated fortified wine originally made by monks at Buckfast Abbey in Devon, England, now made under a licence granted by the monastery, and distributed by J. Bawls Soft drink

Bawls Guarana, stylized as BAWLS Guarana, is a caffeinated soft drink based on the guarana berry. Bawls Guarana was created by entrepreneur Hoby Buppert, who formed a business plan for selling an alternative to coffee while in business school. Buppert started selling Bawls Guarana in Florida in 1996 under his company Hobarama. After a computer gaming website praised the soft drink in a 1998 product review, Bawls Guarana became popular with PC game players, who wanted caffeine to give them energy while playing. This enabled Buppert to start sponsoring gaming events like LAN parties and esports leagues. Shortly thereafter, Hobarama began marketing outside of video game players, targeting paintball and BMX, and expanding into the fashion industry.

Energy Brands, also doing business as Glacéau, is a privately owned subsidiary of The Coca-Cola Company based in Whitestone, Queens, New York, that manufactures and distributes various lines of enhanced water. Founded in May 1996 by J. Darius Bikoff with an electrolyte enhanced line of water called Smartwater, Energy Brands initially distributed its products to health food stores and independent retailers in the New York area. The Corrupted Blood incident was a virtual pandemic in the MMORPG World of Warcraft, which began on September 13, 2005, and lasted for one month. The epidemic began with the introduction of the new raid Zul'Gurub and its end boss Hakkar the Soulflayer. When confronted and attacked, Hakkar would cast a hit point-draining and highly contagious debuff spell called "Corrupted Blood" on players.

ConsumerLab.com, LLC. is a privately held American company registered in White Plains, NY. It is a publisher of test results on health, wellness, and nutrition products. Consumer Labs is not a laboratory, but contracts studies to outside laboratories. It purchases supplement products and other consumer goods directly from public storefronts and publishes reports based on the results. It primarily derives revenue from the sale of subscriptions to its online publications. Other sources of revenue include a proprietary certification program, licensing fees, contents re-publication license fees and advertising.

A caffeinated alcoholic drink is a drink that contains both alcohol and caffeine. They often include the ingredients of energy drinks as well. In 2010 and 2011, this type of drink faced criticism for posing health risks to their drinkers. In some places there is a ban on caffeinated alcoholic drinks.

G FUEL Energy Formula is a brand of caffeinated drink mix sold by Gamma Labs, based in West Babylon, New York. It is marketed as a supplement for gaming that boosts focus and reaction time. Gamma Labs claims that it has an advantage over conventional canned energy drinks in that it does not trigger a sugar crash following consumption due to a lack of sugar content in the product.
