As of the census [4] of 2000, there were 872 people, 336 households, and 228 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 397.8 inhabitants per square mile (153.6/km2). There were 381 housing units at an average density of 173.8 per square mile (67.1/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 97.82% White, 0.34% Black or African American, 1.03% Native American, 0.11% Pacific Islander, and 0.69% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.23% of the population.
There were 336 households, out of which 31.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.5% were married couples living together, 14.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.1% were non-families. 24.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 2.90.
In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 25.0% under the age of 18, 10.1% from 18 to 24, 26.8% from 25 to 44, 21.1% from 45 to 64, and 17.0% who were 65 years of age or older.
