Embden Pond is a good habitat for smallmouth bass, lake trout, and land-locked Atlantic salmon. The pond shoreline is heavily developed with residences and seasonal camps. There is a public boat ramp at the south end of the pond near where Mill Stream overflows to the Carrabassett River, 4 miles (6.4 km) south of the pond and 1 mile (1.6 km) upstream of the Carrabassett's confluence with the Kennebec River. As of the census [8] of 2010, there were 939 people, 407 households, and 286 families living in the town. The population density was 23.7 inhabitants per square mile (9.2/km2). There were 950 housing units at an average density of 24.0 per square mile (9.3/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 97.6% White, 0.4% African American, 0.4% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.6% from other races, and 0.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.2% of the population.
There were 407 households, of which 23.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.9% were married couples living together, 5.2% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.2% had a male householder with no wife present, and 29.7% were non-families. 24.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.28 and the average family size was 2.66.
The median age in the town was 49.7 years. 17.9% of residents were under the age of 18; 5% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 20.1% were from 25 to 44; 36.6% were from 45 to 64; and 20.4% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the town was 52.3% male and 47.7% female.

The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.74.
