The Heritage Orchestra is a British orchestra founded in 2004 under the artistic direction of Chris Wheeler. The orchestra perform a mix of styles and genres and are known as the premiere non-classical orchestra in the UK, with a catalogue of studio and performance projects in both experimental and popular music.

Contents

The Heritage Orchestra has worked with some of the worlds biggest artists on the most prestigious stages, and are credited with changing the orchestral landscape with their modern approach to orchestral collaboration. The orchestra, which ranges between 25 and 75 members, often combine electronics, bands, singers, and powerful visuals, and have performed internationally in venues such as the Sydney Opera House, Emirates Palace, the Hollywood Bowl, and regularly tour throughout the UK to major concert halls and large-scale arenas, including The O2 Arena and Royal Albert Hall in London. They have appeared on television throughout the world including ITV, BBC, CBS, and Paramount.

In 2010, the Heritage Orchestra was nominated in the 9th Independent Music Awards and won the Contemporary Classical Album award for their performance of Gabriel Prokofiev's 'Concerto for Turntables and Orchestra' along with DJ Yoda. [1] In 2015 the orchestra toured Europe with Björk leading to a live recording of Vulnicura. In 2017 the orchestra reached Number One in the UK Album Charts with BBC Radio 1 DJ Pete Tong and their album Classic House . [2] In 2023 they performed at the Royal Albert Hall with six-time Brit Award Winner and Grammy nominated artist RAYE [3] performing her album 'My 21st Century Symphony' [4] In 2024 The Heritage Orchestra collaborated with Dua Lipa, providing their full orchestral production and arranging team for Dua Lipa - Live From The Royal Albert Hall, [5] [6] [7] [8] later broadcast on ITV entitled An Evening with Dua Lipa.

The Heritage Orchestra has worked with various conductors including Tom Richards, Ben Foster, and Jules Buckley (who left the orchestra in 2022).

Peter Michael Tong is an English DJ who works for BBC Radio 1. He is also known for his work as the conductor for Peter Gabriel's Scratch my Back world tour and albums, and for the BBC Proms Doctor Who events.

London Oriana Choir is a choral group comprising around 120 singers, based in London, England. It was formed in 1973 by Leon Lovett, who acted as conductor and musical director. David Drummond became the choir's musical director in 1996, and Dominic Ellis-Peckham began his term as musical director in September 2013. The choir has developed a following through performances at London venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Barbican Centre, Royal Festival Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall at Southbank, St Paul's Cathedral, St Martin-in-the-Fields and St James' Piccadilly. In 2016 the choir launched a five-year project 'five15' to promote the work of women composers with 15 new commissions from five composers, workshops and recordings. The five commissioned composers-in-residence were Cheryl Frances-Hoad (2016/17), Rebecca Dale (2017/18), Jessica Curry (2018/19), Anna Disley-Simpson (2019-2021), and Hannah Kendall (2021/22). Composer Cecilia McDowall accepted the role of Patron of the choir in 2021. The choir celebrated its 50th anniversary in the 2023/24 season, commissioning a new piece 'Here Hum The Bees' from Cecilia McDowall, which was premiered at a gala concert at St John's Smith Square in March 2024.

Kirkpatrick also handled the production and offered it to Lipa after it was rejected by multiple artists. The song was released through Warner Bros. Records for digital download and streaming on 7 July 2017 as the album's seventh single. It is an electropop and tropical house track with an EDM production that includes dance-pop beats and dancehall rhythms. The lyrics see Lipa giving herself a set of rules in order to get over a former boyfriend. Lipa stated that it was the breakup song that she wished she had when she was breaking up with someone.

A nu-disco song, it features a funk bassline, inspired by music by the Bee Gees, Daft Punk and Two Door Cinema Club. Elements used in the production include handclaps, a crowd noise, cowbells, synth bursts and accented strings. Lyrically, Lipa celebrates her independence and instructs a former lover to forget about their past relationship.

Future Nostalgia is the second studio album by English and Albanian singer Dua Lipa. It was released on 27 March 2020 by Warner Records. Lipa enlisted writers and producers including Jeff Bhasker, Ian Kirkpatrick, Stuart Price, the Monsters & Strangerz, and Koz to create a "nostalgic" pop and disco record containing influences from dance-pop and electronic music. The album was inspired by the music that Lipa enjoyed during her childhood.

The tour visited cities across North America, Europe, South America and Oceania.

The song was written by Lipa, Clarence Coffee Jr., Sarah Hudson, and Koz, who produced the song with Stuart Price, and stemmed from a Roland VP-330 synthesizer sample played by Koz. The song is an electro-disco and nu-disco song with several disco tropes. It incorporates elements of dance-pop, pop-funk, power pop and space rock, as well as 1970s, 1980s and 1990s pop and R&B styles. The lyrics describe the idea of "levitating" when falling in love, with several outer space references.

Consisting of solo performances and a selected duet with British singer Elton John, it was part of the promotion from her third studio album Radical Optimism (2024). The special was recorded on 17 October 2024 at the Royal Albert Hall located in London, England.
