Heteracanthia is a genus of flies in the family Stratiomyidae. [2]
The Ulidiidae or picture-winged flies are a large and diverse cosmopolitan family of flies (Diptera), and as in related families, most species are herbivorous or detritivorous. They are often known as picture-winged flies, along with members of other families in the superfamily Tephritoidea that have patterns of bands or spots on the wings. Some species share with the Tephritidae an unusual elongated posteroapical projection of the anal cell in the wing, but can be differentiated by the smoothly curving subcostal vein. Two species, Tetanops myopaeformis and Euxesta stigmatias, are agricultural pests.
Superfamily Tabanoidea are insects in the order Diptera.
Microchrysa is a genus of soldierfly belonging to the family Stratiomyidae. There has been some confusion with the synonym Chrysomyia of Macquart, 1834, causing some members of the genus Chrysomya of Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 to be placed erroneously in this genus.
Cordyligaster is a genus of bristle flies in the family Tachinidae.
Tetreuaresta is a genus of tephritid or fruit flies in the family Tephritidae.
Copestylum is one of the largest genera of hoverflies in the Americas. It comprises more than 300 species, of which only four have been found outside the Americas, having probably been introduced by the importation of cacti in which the larvae live.
Ocyptamus is a large and diverse genus of over 200 species of hoverfly mostly found in the Neotropical region. It is likely that many of these species will be discovered to be synonyms though many others await description.
Dexiini is a tribe of flies in the family Tachinidae.
Palpada is a genus of 85 neotropical and nearctic flower flies or hoverflies This genus is often colorful and bee-like. It is in the tribe Eristaliini containing dozens of genera Common sister genera include Eristalis (99 species), Meromacrus (43 sp.), Eristalinus (100 sp.) and Helophilus (50 sp.). The genus palpada is distinguished by:
Beridinae is a subfamily of soldier flies in the family Stratiomyidae.
Hermetia is a genus of flies of the family Stratiomyidae.
Solva is a fly genus in the family Xylomyidae, the "wood soldier flies".
Cyphomyia is a genus of flies in the subfamily Clitellariinae.
Orphnabaccha is a genus of hoverfly in the Neotropical region, formerly included in the genus Ocyptamus, which was split after researchers determined it was not monophyletic.
Pangoniinae is a subfamily of Horse-flies in the order Diptera, containing at least four tribes and 24 genera.
Scionini is a tribe of horse and deer flies in the family Tabanidae.
Arcuavena is a genus of flies in the family Stratiomyidae.
Australoactina is a genus of flies in the family Stratiomyidae.
Beridella is a genus of flies in the family Stratiomyidae.
Berismyia is a genus of flies in the family Stratiomyidae.
