As a result of research published in 2021, some species of Heterocampa have been moved to the genera Cecrita , Macrurocampa , and Rifargia . [4] [5]
These 18 species belong to the genus Heterocampa:
Cisthene is a genus of lichen moths in the family Erebidae. The genus was erected by Francis Walker in 1854.
Eucereon is a genus of tiger moths in the family Erebidae. The genus was erected by Jacob Hübner in 1819.

Acontia is a genus of moths of the family Noctuidae. The genus was named by Ferdinand Ochsenheimer in 1816. Eusceptis, Pseudalypia and Spragueia are sometimes included in the present genus, but here they are tentatively treated as different pending further research. Many species of Tarache were also once placed here.
Ogdoconta is a genus of moths of the family Noctuidae.
Tarache is a genus of moths of the family Noctuidae erected by Jacob Hübner. It includes most former New World Acontia species. Lepidoptera and Some Other Life Forms and The Global Lepidoptera Names Index report this name as a synonym of Acontia.
Thagona is a genus of moths in the subfamily Lymantriinae. The genus was erected by Heinrich Benno Möschler in 1883.
Tolype is a genus of moths in the family Lasiocampidae. The genus was erected by Jacob Hübner in 1820.
Clostera is a genus of moths of the family Notodontidae. It consists of the following species:
Macrurocampa is a genus of moths of the family Notodontidae erected by Harrison Gray Dyar Jr. in 1893. They are found primarily in North America.
Schizura is a genus of prominent moths in the family Notodontidae. There are about eight described species in Schizura.

Americerura is a genus of prominent moths in the family Notodontidae. There are about 17 described species in Americerura. As a result of research published in 2023, these species were transferred from the genus Tecmessa, creating the genus Americerura.
