Heteronotus is a genus of treehoppers belonging to the subfamily Heteronotinae, of which it is the type genus. It was first described by François Laporte in 1832. [1]
Most species of Heteronotus have an appearance mimicking ants and wasps, with hollow bulbs and spikes.[ citation needed ] In some cases, the pronotum stretches beyond the wings.[ citation needed ]
