Hill Complex Historic District is a national historic district located at Sharon, York County, South Carolina. It encompasses four contributing buildings in Sharon. The buildings are commercial, industrial, and residential buildings built by William Lawrence Hill between about 1890 and 1925. The buildings are the William L. Hill House (c. 1890), W. L. Hill Cotton Gin (c. 1925), W. L. Hill Cotton Warehouse and Dock (c. 1920), and the separately listed W.L. Hill Store (1913). [2] [3]

It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. [1]

The High Hills of Santee, sometimes known as the High Hills of the Santee, is a long, narrow hilly region in the western part of Sumter County, South Carolina. It has been called "one of the state's most famous areas". The High Hills of Santee region lies north of the Santee River and east of the Wateree River, one of the two rivers that join to form the Santee. It extends north almost to the Kershaw county line and northeasterly to include the former summer resort town of Bradford Springs. Since 1902 the town has been included in Lee County.

More than 25 of his works have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

It is named in honor of Prattville's founder, Daniel Pratt. The district includes the historic downtown and is roughly bounded by 6th Street in the north, Northington Street in the east, 1st Street in the south, and Bridge and Court streets in the west. Architecture in the district includes the Greek Revival, Italianate, and Bungalow styles. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 30, 1984.

Darlington Industrial Historic District is a national historic district located at Darlington, Darlington County, South Carolina. The district encompasses 12 contributing buildings and 1 contributing structure in an industrial section of Darlington. They were built between about 1890 and 1925. All of these buildings are located along the rights-of-way of the South Carolina Western Railway and the Charleston, Sumter and Northern Railroad since the industries each of these buildings served employed the services of the railroad. Among the prominent resources in the district are the Charleston, Sumter and Northern Railway Freight Station (1891), the Darlington Roller Mill (1899), Thomas and Howard Tobacco Warehouse ; and Price's Tobacco Warehouse, and a cotton warehouse.

The W.L. Hill Store, built in 1913, is an historic three story department store located on York Street in the town of Sharon, York County, South Carolina. It is by far the largest building in town. Designed in the commercial style, by locally prominent architect Julian Starr, its size and grandeur was meant to mimic larger stores in major cities. On January 20, 1995, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. It is located in the Hill Complex Historic District.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Kendall Mill Historic District</span> Historic district in South Carolina, United States

Kendall Mill Historic District is a historic mill complex, mill village, and national historic district located at Camden, Kershaw County, South Carolina. The district encompasses 119 contributing buildings, 1 contributing sites, and 1 contributing structure in Camden. The district is centered on the Wateree Plant and associated structures that date from 1899 to 1923. The mill village to the south and southeast of the plant was built between 1900 and ca. 1925 and is a virtually intact reminder of the importance of the textile industry to South Carolina. The mill faces Kendall Park, a ten-acre landscaped park. On the eastern border of the park are the mill supervisors’ houses, built between 1900 and ca. 1925. The operatives house consist of one-story, 1 1/2-story, and a few two-story frame houses which date from 1900 to 1923. The district also includes Kendall Lake, north of the mill. The Dekalb Cotton Mill was organized in 1899. The Dekalb Mill building, designed by W.B. Smith Whaley in the Romanesque Revival style, was considered a model of textile architecture. The original plant building is a four-story rectangular brick building with a back stair tower and an imposing six-story front stair tower. The west addition to the plant, which is in keeping, architecturally, with the older buildings, was constructed in 1964. It is located in the City of Camden Historic District.

Sharon Downtown Historic District is a national historic district located at Sharon, York County, South Carolina. It encompasses nine contributing buildings in the central business district of Sharon. The buildings are predominantly masonry commercial buildings built between 1908 and 1944. The buildings are the First National Bank of Sharon, Shannon and Plexico Buildings, Love and Kennedy Buildings, Hope Building and Sims Hood Drugstore, and John S. Rainey Cotton Gin, Seedhouse and Office.

Rock Hill Cotton Factory, also known as Plej's Textile Mill Outlets, Ostrow Textile Mill, and Fewell Cotton Warehouse, is a historic textile mill complex located at Rock Hill, South Carolina. The mill was built in 1881, and is a two-story, 12 bay by 16 bay, brick factory. It features a three-story tower at the main entrance. A number of additions have been made to the building. The Fewell Cotton Warehouse is a one-story, brick and wood frame warehouse built before 1894.

Highland Park Manufacturing Plant and Cotton Oil Complex is a historic industrial complex and national historic district located at Rock Hill, South Carolina. It encompasses three contributing building and two contributing structures in Rock Hill. The complex includes the Highland Park Manufacturing Plant, the Highland Park Cotton Oil Mill (1902), and the Highland Park Cotton Oil Mill Office (1902). They are the surviving buildings of a larger complex, including a gin and seed house, the rest of which have been demolished. Surrounding the original mill are portions of the mill village. The mill operated until 1968.

A.S. Cooper Farm is a historic farm complex and national historic district located near Brownwood, Ashe County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 13 contributing buildings, 2 contributing sites, and 1 contributing structure. They are located in three primary clusters on the farm. The A.S. Cooper, Sr. cluster includes the A.S. Cooper, Sr. House, spring house, tool shed / wood shed, chicken coop, granary, and garage (1934). The second cluster is the barn / milking parlor, and silo complex. The third cluster includes the Albert Sidney Cooper, Jr. House (1918), small shed, kitchen building, shed, spring house, and barn. Associated with the complex is the family cemetery and agricultural landscape.

The district encompasses 433 contributing buildings, 1 contributing site, and 6 contributing structures on the original Cooleemee Cotton Mill Company property at Cooleemee. It was developed between 1898 and 1967, and includes notable examples of Gothic Revival, American Craftsman, and Colonial Revival style architecture. Notable contributing resources include the mill houses of 12 house types, Cooleemee Cotton Mill complex, Pest House and the company farm, Friendship Baptist Church, North Cooleemee Elementary School (1952), Church of the Good Shepherd (1925), Cooleemee United Methodist Church (1932), First Baptist Church of Cooleemee (1949), Cooleemee Recreation Center Bathhouse (1949), “The Holler,” and “Riverside Park,” also known as “Park Hill.”

Tarboro Historic District is a national historic district located near Tarboro, Edgecombe County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 364 contributing buildings in central Tarboro. It includes a variety of industrial, commercial, residential, and institutional buildings dating from the late-18th through early-20th centuries. Located in the district are the separately listed Tarboro Town Common, The Barracks, Redmond-Shackelford House, Pender Museum, Blount-Bridgers House, Coates-Walston House, Calvary Episcopal Church and Churchyard, and the Cotton Press complex. Other notable buildings include the Morris-Powell House, Porter House, U. S. Post Office (1914), Pippen House (1870s), Dancy-Battle-Bass Clark House, Holderness House, Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church (1908-1909), W. H. Tull–Worth–Holland Farm is a historic farm and national historic district located near Kinston, Lenoir County, North Carolina. It encompasses 14 contributing buildings and 1 contributing site. The district includes a significant cross section of domestic and agricultural buildings constructed between 1825 and 1942. The farmhouse was built about 1825, and is a two-story, Federal style frame dwelling. It has a gable roof, exterior end chimneys, and hall-and-parlor plan. Other contributing resources are the Cook's House, privy / chicken house, Delco house, playhouse, barn, stable, cotton gin, five tobacco barns, and a tenant house.

The district encompasses seven contributing buildings and one contributing structure in the crossroads community of Croft in rural Mecklenburg County. Contributing resources include the S. W. & C. S. Davis General Store (1908), two-story Queen Anne style S. W. Davis House (1903) and flower house, the old Croft School, three warehouses, and a section of the (former) Atlantic. Tennessee and Ohio Railroad Tracks (1871).
