Huberopappus is a monotypic genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Asteraceae. [1] It only contains one species, Huberopappus maigualidae. [2]
It is native to Venezuela. [2]
The genus name of Huberopappus is in honour of Otto Huber (b. 1944), an Italian ecologist known for his work on the botany, phytogeography and conservation of the neotropics. [3] The Latin specific epithet of maigualidae refers to Sierra de Maigualida in Guiana Shield, southern Venezuela. [4]
Both species and genus were first described and published in 1992. [5]
Lepechinia is a genus of plants in the mint family, Lamiaceae. It includes several species of plants known commonly as pitchersages. Plants of this genus can be found in Central and South America, Mexico, California, Hispaniola, and Hawaii, although the species in Hawaii is probably a human introduction. Many of them bear attractive pitcher-shaped flowers, often in shades of purple. The genus was named for the Russian botanist Ivan Ivanovich Lepechin. Recently, the two monotypic genera Chaunostoma and Neoeplingia were shown to be part of Lepechinia.

Julian Alfred Steyermark was a Venezuelan American botanist. His focus was on New World vegetation, and he specialized in the family Rubiaceae.
Otto Huber is an Italian ecologist known for his work on the botany, phytogeography and conservation of the neotropics. His academic focus has primarily been on the non-forested biomes of the Venezuelan Guayana. Beginning in the 1970s, he led many pioneering expeditions to the inaccessible tepuis of the region. Huber has authored over 120 publications, including most of the first volume of Flora of the Venezuelan Guayana. As a plant collector, Huber was most active around the period 1974–1999. His herbarium collections number more than 13,500 specimens, each with three to four duplicates on average. Huber worked closely with Julian A. Steyermark, one of his early mentors.
