Hubert Collins (born August 19,1936) is an American politician from Kentucky,where he also has been elected to public office.
Collins has served in the Kentucky House of Representatives since 1991,representing district 97,as a Democrat. A former teacher,auctioneer,car dealer and broker,he attended Morehead State University. [1]

Lancaster was founded as a collection of log cabins in 1776 near a spring that later provided a constant source of water to early pioneers. It is one of the oldest cities in the Commonwealth. Boonesborough,25 miles to the east,was founded by Daniel Boone in 1775. Lexington,28 miles to the north,was founded in 1775. Stanford,originally known as St. Asaph,is 10 miles south of Lancaster. It too was founded in 1775. The oldest permanent settlement in Kentucky,Harrodsburg,was founded in 1774 and is 18 miles to the west. Garrard's present day courthouse is one of the oldest courthouses in Kentucky in continuous use.

Franklin County is part of the Frankfort,Kentucky Micropolitan Statistical Area. It shares a name with Franklin County in Ohio,where Columbus is located. This makes it one of two pairs of capital cities in counties of the same name,along with Marion Counties in Oregon and Indiana.

The county was named for John Breckinridge (1760–1806),a Kentucky Attorney General,state legislator,United States Senator,and United States Attorney General. It was the 38th Kentucky county in order of formation. Breckinridge County is now a wet county,following a local option election on January 29,2013,but it had been a dry county for the previous 105 years.
Stephen Collins Foster,known also as "the father of American music",was an American composer known primarily for his parlour and minstrel music during the Romantic period. He wrote more than 200 songs,including "Oh! Susanna","Hard Times Come Again No More","Camptown Races","Old Folks at Home","My Old Kentucky Home","Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair","Old Black Joe",and "Beautiful Dreamer",and many of his compositions remain popular today. He has been identified as "the most famous songwriter of the nineteenth century" and may be the most recognizable American composer in other countries. Most of his handwritten music manuscripts are lost,but editions issued by publishers of his day feature in various collections.
Melungeons are an ethnicity from the Southeastern United States who descend from Europeans,Native American,and sub-Saharan Africans brought to America as indentured servants and later as slaves. Historically,the Melungeons were associated with settlements in the Cumberland Gap area of central Appalachia,which includes portions of East Tennessee,Southwest Virginia,and eastern Kentucky. Tri-racial describes populations who claim to be of mixed European,African and Native American ancestry. Although there is no consensus on how many such groups exist,estimates range as high as 200,000.
Boonesborough is an unincorporated community in Madison County,Kentucky,United States. Founded by famed frontiersman Daniel Boone in 1778 as one of the first English-speaking settlements west of the Appalachian Mountains,Boonesborough lies in the central part of the state along the Kentucky River and is the site of Fort Boonesborough State Park,which includes the Kentucky River Museum. The park site has been rebuilt to look like a working fort of the time that Boone resided there.
Martha Layne Collins is an American former businesswoman and politician from the Commonwealth of Kentucky;she was elected as the state's 56th governor from 1983 to 1987,the first woman to hold the office and the only one to date. Prior to that,she served as the 48th Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky,under John Y. Brown,Jr. Her election made her the highest-ranking Democratic woman in the U.S. She was considered as a possible running mate for Democratic presidential nominee Walter Mondale in the 1984 presidential election,but Mondale chose Congresswoman Geraldine Ferraro instead.
George Madison was the sixth Governor of Kentucky. He was the first governor of Kentucky to die in office,serving only a few weeks in 1816. Little is known of Madison's early life. He was a member of the influential Madison family of Virginia,and was a second cousin to President James Madison. He served with distinction in three wars –the Revolutionary War,Northwest Indian War,and War of 1812. He was twice wounded in the Northwest Indian War,and in the War of 1812 he was taken prisoner following the Battle of Frenchtown in Michigan.

Alfred Eugene "Sonny" Collins is a former American football running back who played in the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the second round of the 1976 NFL draft. He played college football at Kentucky.
